The rapid increase in multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria and biofilm-associated infections has intensified the global need for innovative antimicrobial strategies. Phage therapy offers promising precision against MDR pathogens by utilizing the natural ability of phages to specifically infect and lyse bacteria. However, their clinical application is hampered by challenges such as narrow host range, immune clearance and limited efficacy within biofilms.

G-quadruplexes (G4) are four-stranded nucleic acid structures formed within sequences containing repeated guanine tracts separated by intervening loop regions. Abundant in the human genome, they play crucial roles in transcription regulation and genome maintenance. Although theoretically capable to adopt 26 different folding topologies─primarily differing in loop arrangements─only 14 of these have been observed experimentally.

Achieving magnetic ordering in low-dimensional materials remains a key objective in the field of magnetism. Herein, coordination chemistry emerges as a powerful discipline to promote the stabilization of magnetism at the nanoscale. We present a thorough study of exemplary two-dimensional metal-organic nanoarchitectures synthesized on a Au(111) substrate, which are rationalized by using surface-science techniques and theoretical calculations.

Purely organic materials showing efficient and persistent emission via room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) allow the design of minimalistic yet powerful technological solutions for sensing, bioimaging, information storage, and safety applications using the photonic design principle of digital luminescence. Although several promising materials exist, a deep understanding of the underlying structure-property relationship and, thus, development of rational design strategies are widely missing. Some of the best purely organic emitters follow the donor-acceptor-donor design motif.
