Numerous comorbidities have been associated with psoriasis; however, no studies have considered the relationship between psoriasis and appendicitis, cholecystitis, or diverticulitis. To determine the incidence rate and hazard risk (HR) ratio of appendicitis, cholecystitis, or diverticulitis in patients with psoriasis, we compared psoriasis patients with healthy controls from the Kaiser Permanente Southern California (KPSC) health network. The Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to examine the risk for appendicitis, cholecystitis, or diverticulitis. Patients with psoriasis had a 1.16 times greater risk for developing diverticulitis compared to controls (P < .01). There was no significant difference in risk for developing appendicitis or cholecystitis. Patients with psoriasis may have an elevated risk for diverticulitis compared to the general population and therefore might require additional monitoring by clinicians.

This comprehensive systematic review assesses the clinical outcomes of robotic-assisted procedures for acute abdominal emergencies, analyzing data from 27 studies comprising 1142 cases. The investigation specifically examines five critical emergency conditions: complicated appendicitis (representing 32.5% of cases), acute cholecystitis (28.

Background: Although the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is widely utilized in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening because of its noninvasive, rapid, and cost-effective characteristics, its effectiveness in post-adenoma resection surveillance remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the benefits of follow-up FIT surveillance in individuals with adenoma resection and to identify risk factors associated with adenoma recurrence.
Methods And Findings: As part of China's National Screening Project, we identified a total of 5,911 individuals who underwent adenoma removal during the first round of CRC screening in Jiashan and Haining between 2006 and 2021.

Pylephlebitis is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of various intra-abdominal infections, characterized by septic thrombophlebitis of the portal venous system. It is most commonly associated with conditions such as appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, and other sources of abdominal sepsis. When the thrombosis extends to the superior mesenteric vein, it can result in bowel ischemia, infarction, and even death if not promptly diagnosed and treated.

Objective: Acute abdomen presents a significant challenge in the treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), potentially leading to treatment failure and treatment-related mortality. Results from the multicenter study of CCCG-ALL-2015 showed significant improvements in overall survival (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) for childhood ALL. However, the primary aim of this study was to determine the incidence, risk factors, and clinical impact of acute abdomen in the CCCG-ALL-2015 protocol, with the ultimate goal in the future of establishing evidence-based preventive strategies to reduce its occurrence.

Background: Colorectal cancer represents a major concern in China, coupled with a low rate of diagnostic colonoscopy, emphasising the necessity for improved adherence to diagnostic colonoscopy.
Objective: We aimed to predict colonoscopy behaviour in middle-aged and elderly adults using machine learning, explore determinants, and develop a web-based tool to improve adherence to diagnostic colonoscopy.
Methods: We used 49,418 consultation data with positive results of colorectal cancer preliminary screening (defining a positive result in risk assessment or FOBT screening as a preliminary screening positive) from a total of 202,091 consultations in a community-based colorectal cancer screening program between 2013 and 2021 from Baoshan District, Shanghai, China.
