Article Abstract

Photomorphogenesis is an important developmental process that helps the seedlings adapt to external light conditions. B-Box proteins are a family of transcription factors that regulate photomorphogenic responses. BBX31 negatively regulates photomorphogenesis under visible light. In contrast, it promotes photomorphogenesis under UV-B and enhances tolerance to high doses of UV-B radiation. BBX31 and HY5 independently and oppositely regulate the ability of seedlings to adapt to varying light intensities. BBX31 also regulates primary root elongation under low intensities of white light. GC-MS and HPLC-based metabolite profiling identified differential accumulation of multiple primary and secondary metabolites in 35S:BBX31 that might enhance tolerance to UV-B.

Chitin nanocrystal/carboxymethyl cellulose bilayer emulsion with rigid inner layer and flexible outer shell for ultra-stable encapsulation of fish oil.

Carbohydr Polym

November 2025

Key Laboratory of Fermentation Engineering (Ministry of Education), Hubei Key Laboratory of Industry Microbiology, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China. Electronic address:

The polyunsaturated fatty acids in fish oil are prone to oxidation and have poor dispersibility, which limits their use in the food sector. In this work, oil-in-water emulsions stabilized by chitin nanocrystals (ChNC) were prepared via high-speed homogenization. Anionic carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was assembled onto cationic ChNC-stabilized emulsion droplet surfaces via layer-by-layer self-assembly technology to construct ChNC/CMC (Ch-C) bilayer emulsions with rigid inner layer and flexible outer shell structures.

Background: The ligation of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) is the primary procedure during surgeries of the left colon, sigmoid colon, and rectal cancer. Despite the ongoing debate on high or low ligation of the IMA, high ligation (HL) is now preferred by most of the surgeons. However, there is still a lack of consistency in the exact position of HL among surgical videos or introductions presented by different teams, causing confusion to new learners.

Warming accelerates soil respiration and enhances the carbon sequestration in shrub and grass patches in Patagonian steppes.

Oecologia

September 2025

Grupo de Estudios Biofísicos y Ecofisiológicos (GEBEF), Instituto de Biociencias de La Patagonia (INBIOP), Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) and Universidad Nacional de La Patagonia San Juan Bosco (UNPSJB), 9000, Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina.

Under the scenario of global warming, the response of carbon (C) fluxes of arid and semi-arid ecosystems, is still not well understood. A field warming experiment using open top chambers (OTCs) was conducted in a shrub-grass patagonian steppe to evaluate the effects on bare soil respiration (R), and ecosystem respiration (R), gross primary productivity (GPP) and net C exchange (NEE) during the growing season. Air (T) and soil (T) temperature, and soil available phosphorus changed significantly while there were no changes in soil moisture, soil organic carbon, total soil nitrogen and root biomass, after one-year of treatment.

C2 dorsal root ganglion: the central hub for cervicogenic headache.

Curr Opin Anaesthesiol

October 2025

Division Chief Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, University Hospitals Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Purpose Of Review: The purpose of this review is to provide an update on the mechanisms of cervicogenic headache and the role of the C2 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) as a central hub for cervicogenic headache.

Recent Findings: The suboccipital muscles have been implicated in the pathogenesis of cervicogenic headaches due to their connections with the dura mater. The myodural bridge (MDB) connects the suboccipital musculature to the spinal dura mater as it passed through the posterior atlanto-occipital and the atlanto-axial interspaces.

The southwestern, central, and northeastern regions of China are the primary cultivation areas for industrial hemp. Microorganisms within the soil-root continuum play a crucial role in plant health. However, the mechanisms by which these microbial communities respond to environmental gradients remain unclear.
