Aluminium chlorofluoride (ACF) and high-surface aluminium fluoride (HS-AlF3) were analyzed by a set of characterization methods to assess their acidic properties: NH3-TPD, CO adsorption followed by DRIFTS, CD3CN-PAS-FTIR and MAS NMR spectroscopy after 15N-pyridine adsorption. Both catalysts contain very strong and medium-strong Lewis acid sites as confirmed by CO adsorption, in which small differences arise from the morphological properties of each catalyst, with ACF being microporous and HS-AlF3 mesoporous. Shifts of the CO vibration band of up to 77 cm-1 were observed, which account for very strong Lewis acid sites. In addition, very strong Lewis acid sites could be identified by CD3CN-PAS for both catalysts, exhibiting a shift of 95 cm-1 from free nitrile, the highest ever reported for a solid Lewis acid.

The activation of methane and other gaseous hydrocarbons at low temperature remains a substantial challenge for the chemistry community. Here, we report an anaerobic photosystem based on crystalline borocarbonitride (BCN) supported Fe-O nanoclusters, which can selectively functionalize C-H bonds of methane, ethane, and higher alkanes to value-added organic chemicals at 12 °C. Scanning transmission electron microscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy corroborated the ultrafine FeOOH and FeO species in Fe-O clusters, which enhanced the interfacial charge transfer/separation of BCN as well as the chemisorption of methane.

Purpose: The present study aimed to fabricate microneedles (MNs) for transdermal delivery of insulin. Chitosan-conjugated carboxy phenyl boronic acid polymer was synthesized and characterized to load insulin in the form of nanoparticles.
Methods: Optimized insulin nanoparticles (ILN-NPs) were loaded into MN arrays by micromolding, and the resulting MN patches were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mechanical failure tests.

Accumulation of waste plastics on the earth's surface is a global challenge. There is a possibility of turning this challenge into an opportunity by plastic upcycling. In this work, the potential of bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) as a heterogeneous catalyst for the glycolysis of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is reported.

Introduction: Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT), cell death, and fibrosis are increasingly recognized as contributing factors to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, but the underlying transcriptomic mechanisms remain poorly defined. This study aims to elucidate transcriptomic changes associated with EndoMT, diverse cell death pathways, and fibrosis in AD using the 3xTg-AD mouse model.
Methods: Using RNA-seq data and knowledge-based transcriptomic analysis on brain tissues from the 3xTg-AD mouse model of AD.
