Background: We evaluated the psychometric proprieties of the Screening for Aphasia in NeuroDegeneration (SAND) battery in Italian primary progressive aphasia (PPA) and movement disorder (MD) patients.
Methods: The sample included 30 consecutive PPA and 45 MD patients who completed the SAND battery together with a clinical interview and a neurological/neuropsychological examination and 130 healthy controls (HC).
Results: The SAND battery showed good internal consistency and good convergent and divergent validity. receiver operating characteristic analysis revealed an area under the curve of 0.978 for PPA versus HC and of 0.786 for PPA versus MD. A cutoff ≥3 gave a sensitivity of 0.933% and a specificity of 0.946% for discriminating PPA versus HC, whereas a cutoff ≥5 gave a sensitivity of 0.767% and a specificity of 0.667% for discriminating PPA versus MD.
Conclusion: These results indicate that the SAND battery is an adequate, reliable, and valid diagnostic tool for PPA.

Accurate imaging methods are important for understanding electrodeposition phenomena in metal batteries. Among the suitable imaging methods for this task is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is a very powerful radiological diagnostic method. In this study, MR microscopy was used to image electroplating in a lithium symmetric cell, which was used as a model for a lithium-metal battery.

Commercial zinc metal batteries require an areal capacity above 4 mAh cm at high rates. However, such performance is rarely reported due to slow mass transport between the diffuse layer and the outer Helmholtz layer at the interface. Herein, it is reported an unprecedented Sand's capacity exceeding 64 mAh cm at 20 mA cm, enabled by a hydrophobic and high surface charge iron/zinc phosphate (FZP) nanofilm serving as an artificial solid electrolyte interphase for zinc anode.

Liquid organic electrolytes (LOEs) are of crucial significance in secondary battery deposition processes. Based on Sand's time formula, this study proposes a novel bidirectional ion kinetic regulator concept. Verified in lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs), it is demonstrated that regulating the migration of anions and cations simultaneously can effectively promote the realization of dendrite-free batteries.

For the first time, we demonstrate a silicon solid-state battery (SSB) architecture that achieves >400 Wh kg, approaching the theoretical limit for silicon-based SSBs. This configuration features a 99.9 wt% micro-Si, a thin sulfide solid electrolyte (SSE), and a high-loading NMC811.

Background: SHANK2 disorder is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a deletion or pathogenic sequence variant of the SHANK2 gene and is associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability (ID), and developmental delay. To date, research in SHANK2 has focused on laboratory-based in vivo and in vitro studies with few prospective clinical studies in humans.
Methods: A remote assessment battery was comprised of caregiver interviews with a psychiatrist, psychologists, and a genetic counselor, caregiver-reports, and review of records.
