This study investigated the distribution of twelve mycotoxins (aflatoxins B₁, B₂, G₁, and G₂; ochratoxin A; fumonisins B₁ and B₂; deoxynivalenol; nivalenol; zearalenone; T-2 toxin; and HT-2 toxin) in corn and corn by-products (corn bran, cornstarch, corn gluten, corn gluten feed, corn germ, light steep water, and corn steep liquor) produced by wet-milling in Korea. Fifty-two samples were collected from three factories producing cornstarch and other corn by-products. The samples were pretreated on an immunoaffinity column (IAC), and then the levels of the 12 mycotoxins were analyzed simultaneously by liquid chromatography-coupled triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). mycotoxins were mainly found in raw corn and corn gluten feed samples. Other mycotoxins-such as aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, and HT-2 toxin-were detected in tiny amounts below the limit of quantification (LOQ) in cornstarch, corn germ, and corn bran. Ochratoxin A and nivalenol were mainly carried over into cornstarch. Aflatoxin B₁, deoxynivalenol, T-2 toxin, HT-2 toxin, and the fumonisins were concentrated in corn gluten feed. Zearalenone was evenly distributed in all corn by-products except cornstarch during the milling process.

The objective of the research was to employ extrusion to increase the yield of simulated gastrointestinal digestion of protein corn gluten meal (CG). A single-screw extruder and a full factorial design with two center points were used. The optimal extrusion parameters were 40 % sample moisture, 140 °C and 54 rpm, resulting in a gastrointestinal digestion yield of 37.

The pet food industry currently formulates using crude protein (CP) and gross amino acid (AA) concentrations of individual ingredients as opposed to formulating on an AA standardized ileal digestibility (SID) basis, like in swine and poultry diets. In order to formulate on a SID basis, AA digestibility of individual ingredients must be additive when combined in a complete diet, but this assumption has not been evaluated in pet food. The objective of the present study was to determine if there is AA additivity in four extruded experimental diets using the AA SID estimates from the individual ingredients that were either taken from literature or determined using the cecectomized rooster.

Given the pressing global food security crisis and climate change-induced constraints on agricultural productivity, crop rotation proves critical for boosting yield and grain quality of winter wheat () alongside ameliorating soil quality. However, the legacy effect of different preceding crops on synergistic increments of wheat productivity and soil fertility remains to be fully clarified. Five different preceding crop-winter wheat rotations were conducted in a field experiment established in Huanghua, China.

This trial aimed to investigate the bioavailability of copper, iron, zinc, manganese, and selenium in nano, organic, and common inorganic forms. At d 15 of age, a total of 480 birds, one-day-old Ross 308 males, were used in the current trial and housed in metabolic cages for chickens. All birds were randomly arranged according to their body weight (436 ± 23 g) and allotted to 8 experimental diets in a completely randomized design.

Corn gluten meal and rice bran mixture (CRM) are major agricultural by-products of food processing. The nutritional quality of fermented CRM (FCRM) was enhanced through ultrasound-assisted fermentation with Aspergillus oryzae AOX and Lactobacillus helveticus LHS. Additionally, polydopamine/chitosan-gum Arabic/FCRM (P-C-FCRM) microcapsules were fabricated under ultrasonic conditions to enhance the stability of bioactive compounds.
