Stress is a modern social problem, and it is critical to cope with stress effectively to maintain one's mental health. Social isolation and demoralization in older adults in long-term care facilities are critical public health concerns linked to higher morbidity, mortality, and reduced quality of life. The HARMONEE project (Harnessing Artificial Intelligence Resources for Mental Well-being for Older Adults and Nurturing Empathy in Education) addressed these issues using AI-generated images based on participants' memories to support personalized reminiscence. This pilot study (n = 34) employed a mixed-methods feasibility design across two facilities over 60 days to evaluate the practicality and acceptability of the intervention.

We examined, through retrospective reports, the affect and emotion changes over time (from event occurrence to event recall) that characterise nostalgic events, and how those changes differ from the affect and emotion changes that characterise ordinary (Experiment 1) or neutral (Experiment 2) control events. In both experiments, nostalgic (but not control) events were characterised by a combined fading of positive affect and intensification of negative affect over time. Yet, nostalgic events were associated with more positive affect than control events, particularly at occurrence, but also at recall.

Nostalgia, a sentimental longing for one's past, confers important psychological benefits: positive affect, social connectedness, meaning in life, self-continuity, self-esteem, optimism, and inspiration. Is nostalgia equally beneficial in populations that have experienced a difficult upbringing? We explored boundaries of nostalgia's psychological benefits in an experiment among Gaza Strip youth (N = 416). We hypothesized additionally that resilience would catalyse the impact of nostalgia, with high-resilience participants benefiting more than low-resilience ones.

Although immigrant adjustment has been widely studied, the impact of climate and environmental changes on immigrants' experiences, particularly among older immigrants, has received less attention. Older immigrants are especially vulnerable due to challenges arising from the intersection of advanced age and immigrant status, challenges that are further compounded by global climate change. This study addresses this gap by exploring the retrospective experiences and current perceptions of older immigrants from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) in Israel, focusing on their climate transition and adaptation processes.
