Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) resistance to antimicrobials may result in the increased risk of treatment failure. The objective of the study was to analyse in vitro MRSA susceptibility to vancomycin, linezolid, daptomycin, tigecycline, ceftaroline, dalbavancin, clindamycin, ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. All MRSA strains isolated from hospitalised patients were analysed according to the current microbiological recommendations. Finally, a total of 124 MRSA strains were analysed; all were susceptible to tested antibiotics. Dalbavancin had the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and vancomycin the highest MIC value. There were 28/124 strains of MRSA susceptible for clindamycin, 36/124 for ciprofloxacin and 121/124 for trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Dalbavancin was the most effective antimicrobial in our study.

Punicalagin, a polyphenolic compound extracted from pomegranate peel, has received increasing attention in recent years due to its antibacterial and antiviral properties. Punicalagin is capable of inhibiting bacterial growth at sub-inhibitory concentrations by affecting cell membrane formation, disrupting membrane integrity, altering cell permeability, affecting efflux pumps, interfering with quorum sensing and influencing virulence factors. Additionally, punicalagin inhibits viruses by modulating enzyme activity, interacting with viral surface proteins, affecting gene expression, blocking viral attachment, disrupting virus receptor interaction and inhibiting viral replication.

Background: Candidiasis, predominantly caused by , poses a significant global health challenge, especially in tropical regions. Nystatin is a potent antifungal agent that is hindered by its low solubility and permeability, limiting its clinical efficacy.
Methods: This study aimed to investigate the potential of a layer-by-layer (LBL) coating system, employing chitosan and alginate, to improve the stability, entrapment efficiency (%EE), and antifungal efficacy of nystatin-loaded liposomes against Candida albicans.

Phytophthora root rot caused by the hemibiotrophic oomycete, is a major biotic hindrance in meeting the ever-increasing demand for avocados. In addition, the pathogen is a global menace to agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Phosphite trunk injections and foliar sprays remain the most effective chemical management strategy used in commercial avocado orchards against the pathogen.

Introduction: Tenvermectin (TVM) is a novel avermectin-class drug that has attracted attention for its superior antiparasitic potency, low toxicity, and broad-spectrum activity. However, uncertainty about its interaction with cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs) has raised concerns about potential therapeutic failure, increased risk of toxicity, dangerous drug combinations, and prolonged discontinuation periods.
Method: To address these critical safety concerns, we conducted a systematic comparative study using a highly selective and quantitatively accurate substrate conversion assay to assess and compare the effects of TVM and ivermectin (IVM) on the activities of key CYPs (CYP1A1/2, 2B1, 2C6, 2D2, and 3A1/2).
The aim of the present study was to assess the anti-inflammatory effect of hesperidin. The research was conducted by optimizing the hesperidin extraction process from citrus peel powder, followed by characterization and nutrition profiling of citrus peel hesperidin extract. Citrus peel was collected from the local market and dried in a hot air oven.
