Article Abstract

The first example of a CNC pincer ligand with a central pyridinol ligand is reported in a nickel(ii) complex. This metal complex can be protonated or deprotonated reversibly in situ to switch on or off the photocatalytic performance towards CO2 reduction. The O- substituent appears essential for catalysis.

An efficient strategy for the multicomponent synthesis of pyrimidine analogues has been demonstrated via acceptorless dehydrogenative annulation (ADA) of alcohols utilizing new Ni(II)-NNO pincer complexes as catalysts. The newly formed Ni(II) complexes (-) featuring N^N^O chelating hydrazone ligands are well established through analytical and spectral methods (FT-IR and NMR). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis precisely reveals the NNO coordination fashion and square planar geometry around the metal center.

A facile, cost-effective, and sustainable synthesis of substituted triazines from primary alcohols by newly synthesized nickel pincer-type complexes (-) has been described. Herein, we report the synthesis of a set of three well-defined Ni(II) O^N^O pincer-type complexes, structurally characterized by analytical, spectral, and X-ray diffraction techniques. Further, the nickel complexes are explored as efficient catalysts (4 mol %) for the construction of 2,4,6-substituted 1,3,5-triazines from readily available alcohols via an acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling (ADC) strategy.

Facile non-radiative decay of low-lying metal-centered (MC) dd excited states has been well documented to pose a significant obstacle to the development of phosphorescent Ni complexes due to substantial structural distortions between the dd excited state and the ground state. Herein, we prepared a series of dinuclear Ni complexes by using strong σ-donating carbene-phenyl-carbene (C C C) pincer ligands, and prepared their dinuclear Pt and Pd analogues. Dinuclear Ni complexes bridged by formamidinate/α-carbolinato ligand exhibit short Ni-Ni distances of 2.

Herein, we present the first efficient and sustainable multicomponent synthesis (MCS) of 2-pyrazolines using acceptorless dehydrogenation of benzyl alcohols catalysed by nickel(II) catalysts. Two air-stable phosphine free nickel(II) complexes anchored by NNN-type pincer ligands were synthesized and efficiently used in the MCS of 40 distinct pyrazoline derivatives.
