Unlabelled: The genus includes opportunistic pathogens inhabiting engineered aquatic ecosystems, where managing their presence and abundance is crucial for public health. In these environments, interact positively or negatively with multiple members of the microbial communities. Here, we identified bacteria and compounds with -antagonistic properties.

Olive pomace (OLP) and stones (OLS) are key by-products of olive oil production, rich in lignocellulose and pectin, making them viable substrates for prebiotic oligosaccharide (OS) production. This study evaluated the chemical composition of OLP and OLS powders (OLPp and OLSp) and their potential for OS production through one-step fermentation using recombinant Bacillus subtilis 3610. Both substrates had comparable xylan and pectin levels, but OLSp showed greater potential, achieving a maximum total sugar yield of 60 ± 3 mg.

Background: Injury risk assessments for evaluating competition readiness could be improved by incorporating dual task testing, including decision-making and/or divided attention components, to more closely mirror a competition-like environment.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose was to identify the most disruptive (or biomechanically demanding) cognitive load to add to a series of change-of-direction tasks. It was hypothesized that a visual motor response component (unanticipated change in direction) would elicit the greatest biomechanical risk factors across tasks and that changes would be consistent between limbs.

Poor microbial and plant activities in constructed wetlands (CWs) in winter reduced nitrogen removal substantially. A novel low-temperature tolerant heterotrophic nitrification-aerobic denitrification (HN-AD) strain of Pseudomonas umsongensis YL-1, isolated from the rhizosphere of wetland plants, was periodically inoculated into CWs to improve the efficiency of winter nitrogen removal. The removal rates of NH-N and TN in CWs planted with Iris japonica and Lolium perenne L.

Organic electrode materials (OEMs) derived from natural quinones can enable sustainable lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) if their dissolution-induced capacity fading in organic electrolytes and their conductivity issues are addressed. It is demonstrated that converting natural anthraquinones (AQs) into organic alkali-metalated salts effectively inhibits their dissolution in aprotic electrolytes. For this purpose, a solubility indicator (ΔMPI) is developed, which reliably guides the selection of compatible OEMs and electrolytes.
