Metal oxide resistive switches are increasingly important as possible artificial synapses in next-generation neuromorphic networks. Nevertheless, there is still no codified set of tools for studying properties of the devices. To this end, we demonstrate electron beam-induced current measurements as a powerful method to monitor the development of local resistive switching in TiO-based devices. By comparing beam energy-dependent electron beam-induced currents with Monte Carlo simulations of the energy absorption in different device layers, it is possible to deconstruct the origins of filament image formation and relate this to both morphological changes and the state of the switch. By clarifying the contrast mechanisms in electron beam-induced current microscopy, it is possible to gain new insights into the scaling of the resistive switching phenomenon and observe the formation of a current leakage region around the switching filament. Additionally, analysis of symmetric device structures reveals propagating polarization domains.

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large DNA virus that causes a highly lethal disease in pigs and currently has no effective vaccines or antiviral treatments available. We designed a protein switch that combines the DNase domain of colicin E9 (DNase E9) and its inhibitor Im9 with the viral protease cleavage site. The complex is only destroyed in the presence of an ASFV pS273R protease, which releases DNase activity.

Recalcitrant palmar common warts pose a considerable challenge in dermatology due to their frequent persistence despite various treatment attempts. The thick stratum corneum of the palms and the constant pressure and friction in this location contribute to their resistance to therapy and a high rate of recurrence. We report the case of a 33-year-old male with a 26-month history of a progressively enlarging palmar wart refractory to extensive conventional therapies, including 18 intermittent sessions of liquid nitrogen cryotherapy administered over the course of his 26-month history, two electrofulguration sessions, and various topical agents.

Background: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)-producing gastric cancer (AFPGC) is resistant to chemotherapy and is associated with poor prognosis. Pediatric gastric cancer has an incidence of 0.02% among gastric cancer patients, with a median survival of 5 months.

Ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs) based on ferroelectric switching and quantum tunneling effects with thickness down to a few unit cells have been explored for applications of two-dimensional (2D) electronic devices in data storage and neural networks. As a key performance indicator, the enhanced tunneling electrosistance (TER) ratio provides a broader dynamic range for precise modulation of synaptic weights, improving the stability and accuracy of neural networks. Herein, we report an observation of pronounced enhancement in the TER ratio by over 4 orders of magnitude through the fabrication of large-scale heterostructures combining bismuth ferrite with two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper oxide BiFeO.
