It is reported that pharmacokinetics after intravenous injection of I-ioflupane may reflect cerebral blood flow. In this study, the early-phase pharmacokinetics of I-ioflupane in 10 healthy volunteers was analyzed over time using dynamic single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) immediately after intravenous injection. We also examined the correlation between the I-IMP imaging and the I-ioflupane early-phase image for 14 cases in which both dopamine transporter (DaT) imaging by I-ioflupane and cerebral blood flow imaging by I-IMP were performed on the same camera. The time-activity curve between cerebellum (CBL) area and each area of anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), posterior cerebral artery (PCA) showed distribution characteristics similar to I-IMP from immediately after intravenous injection until 20 minutes after administration, and there was no conspicuous washout. The regression line and the correlation coefficient of the Z-score of three-dimensional stereotactic surface projections (3DSSP) (decrease) of the early-phase imaging of I-ioflupane and the I-IMP imaging are y=0.7546x+0.3562, r=0.8169 (P<0.01) at 0-10 minutes of I-ioflupane, and y=0.7412x+0.3027, r=0.8280 (P<0.01) at 0-15 minutes of I-ioflupane, and y=0.7400x+0.2456, r=0.8449 (P<0.01) at 0-20 minutes of I-ioflupane, showing a strong correlation at all timings. Therefore, I-ioflupane early-phase pharmacokinetics after intravenous showed distribution characteristics similar to I-IMP, indicating the possibility that early images may be useful in a clinical practice.

The three-dimensional (3D) culture system has emerged as an indispensable platform for modulating stem cell function in biomedicine, drug screening, and cell therapy. Despite a few studies confirming the functionality of 3D culture, the molecular factors underlying this process remain obscure. Here, we have utilized a hanging drop method to generate 3D spheroid-derived mesenchymal stem cells (3D MSCs) and compared them to conventionally 2D-cultured MSCs.

LP-98 is a lipopeptide HIV fusion inhibitor showing strong treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis efficacies in non-human primates. In this study, we further characterized its pharmacokinetics, long-lasting antiviral activity, and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) efficacy using 62 macaques. In cynomolgus macaques, LP-98 achieved high concentrations (C) with a half-life (T) of ∼31 h, and sustained an effective therapeutic concentration for two weeks post-injection.

Background: People who inject drugs (PWID) may develop skin and soft tissue infections because of limited access to sterile injection supplies and education regarding safer injection techniques. The purpose of this study was to assess wound care experiences, knowledge, and practices among individuals accessing community-based services and inform service provision for PWID.
Methods: Using convenience sampling, participants of an organization that engages with PWID in Austin, Texas, were engaged in a multiphase mixed-methods study.
