Article Abstract

The authors present the case of a 59-year-old woman in treatment with interferon alfa-2b for stage IV melanoma and widespread metastases who presented with interferon-associated retinopathy. An ocular examination revealed multiple retinal cotton-wool spots and hard exudates. Interferon treatment was suspended. The patient was followed up for 5 months following the baseline visit by means of en face optical coherence tomography (OCT), spectral-domain OCT, and OCT angiography. Multimodal imaging was useful in the follow-up of this condition, permitting the characterization of all the lesions hallmarking the interferon-retinopathy and showing that this illness was related to a reduction of the retinal vascular perfusion. Quantum Delocalization of a Levitated Nanoparticle.

Matter waves have been observed in double-slit experiments with microscopic objects, such as atoms or molecules. The wave function describing the motion of these objects must extend over a distance comparable to the slit separation, much larger than the characteristic size of the objects. Preparing such states for more massive objects, such as mechanical oscillators, remains an outstanding challenge.

Narrow-linewidth lasers are essential for coherent optical applications, including communications, metrology, and sensing. Although compact semiconductor lasers with narrow linewidths have been demonstrated, achieving high spectral purity generally necessitates passive external cavities based on photonic integrated circuits. This study presents a theoretical and experimental demonstration of a monolithic optical injection locking topological interface state extended (MOIL-TISE) laser.

Skin scars remain a substantial clinical challenge because of their impact on appearance and psychological well-being. Lysyl oxidases catalyze collagen cross-linking, a key factor in scar development. Here, we report a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 1 study to assess the safety and tolerability of PXS-6302, a topical pan-lysyl oxidase inhibitor, in treating mature scars (ACTRN12621001545853).

Coherent Dynamics of Molecular Vibrations in Single Plasmonic Nanogaps.

Phys Rev Lett

Cavendish Laboratory, NanoPhotonics Centre, Department of Physics, JJ Thompson Avenue, University of Cambridge, Cambridge CB3 0US, United Kingdom.

Coupling with a resonant optical cavity is well known to modify the coherence of molecular vibrations. However, in the case of molecules coupled to a plasmonic nanocavity mode, the local mechanisms of vibrational coherence decay remain unclear. Here, the dynamics of a few hundred molecules of nitrothiophenol (NTP) within a single plasmonic nanocavity are studied by sum-frequency generation.
