Aim: A micellar liquid chromatographic method to determine several anticancer drugs (pazopanib, dabrafenib and regorafenib) in plasma was developed and validated by the guidelines of the EMA.
Experimental: Plasma samples were directly injected, after a 1/5-dilution in a micellar solution. The drugs were resolved in <18 min using a C18 column. The mobile phase was an aqueous solution of 0.12 M SDS - 2% 1-pentanol, buffered at pH 7. The detection was performed by absorbance at 260 nm.
Results: The values of the main validation parameters were: LOD (0.1-1 mg/l), calibration range (0.2-2 to 80 mg/l), accuracy (-12.5 to +11.7%) and precision (<11.9%).
Conclusion: The procedure was conducted by minimum cost, effort, manipulation, time and quantity of hazardous chemicals. The method was useful to determine the drugs at their respective target concentrations, and was found useful for clinical analysis.

Surfactant-enhanced aquifer remediation (SEAR) is an effective strategy for removing dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) from contaminated groundwater. While Gemini surfactants possess unique dimeric structures and excellent physicochemical properties, the role of hydrophobic chain length in governing their solubilization performance has not been systematically clarified. Here, five sugar-based anionic-nonionic Gemini surfactants (SANG 06, 08, 09, 10, and 13) with different hydrophobic chain lengths were synthesized and evaluated.

Residues of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) raise considerable concern, while achieving high enough detection sensitivity is still a challenge for on-site fluorescence techniques. Herein, we report a "double-end samplification" strategy by encapsulating a low-emission fluorescent ion probe [DCF][P] into a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) hydrophobic core to form ionic luminescent micelles. At the probe end, ionic liquid micelles locally concentrated the probes, achieving a 350-fold fluorescence enhancement.

pH-responsive nonlamellar liquid crystalline nano-self-assemblies are gaining substantial interest in drug delivery applications owing to their unique inherent structural architectures. Using two positional isomers of diolein (namely, 1,2-diolein and 1,3-diolein) and their mixture (designated as diolein) in combination with 2-hydroxyoleic acid (2OHOA, a therapeutic agent with anticancer activity), we report on a family of stabilizer-free and pH-responsive nanoparticles with internal architectures spanning from a lamellar (L) phase to inverse hexagonal (H) and discontinuous (micellar) cubic phases. In lipid composition- and pH-dependent manners, the triggered colloidal transformations in these aqueous nanodispersions, combined with alterations in the morphological features and size distributions, were investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering, cryo-transmission electron microscopy, and nanoparticle tracking analysis.

Racemic octahedral metal complexes with Δ and Λ chirality and terminal C9 or C10 alkyl chains (M-Cn, n = 9 or 10, M = Ru or Ir) are reported as the first octahedral metallomesogens that exhibit a micellar cubic (Cub) liquid-crystal phase. The space group of the Cub phase in rac-M-Cn is , and each micelle comprises eight molecules in a J-type aggregate structure. In contrast, enantiopure Δ- and Λ-M-Cn exhibit a hexagonal-columnar phase with helical stacking.

A novel centrifuge-less cloud point extraction (CL-CPE) method was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of copper(II) using 4-nitrocatechol (4NC) as the chelating agent. The extraction system utilizes a mixed micellar phase composed of the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 and the ionic liquid (IL) Aliquat 336 (A336). The extracted ternary ion-association complex, identified as (A336)[Cu(4NC)], exhibits a maximum absorbance at 451 nm, with a molar absorption coefficient of 8.
