Article Abstract

Introduction: Although the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint is frequently injured, Complete dislocation of the first MTP joint represents a relatively rare traumatic injury.

Presentation Of Case: A 46-year-old gentleman presented with a traumatic first MTP joint dislocation resulting from an automobile accident. Due to coronavirus outbreak in the hospital at that time, patient was referred to another hospital. Six months later, reduction was achieved surgically and fixation of the MTP with K-wires was done.

Discussion: Only few case reports have described the injury, and the ideal treatment along with the long-term result of the injury has yet to be further studied because reports are rare in this regard.

Conclusion: Functional range of motion may result even after 6 months of delayed treatment with ORIF and osteopenia may result.

Introduction: Understanding foot joint loading during different dynamic activities is essential information for guiding exercise progression in rehabilitation. While walking and running biomechanics are well studied, joint-specific kinetic data during a single leg drop and hop task, often used in rehabilitation, are lacking. This study aimed to evaluate (1) the kinetic behavior of the ankle, Chopart, Lisfranc, and MTP-1 joints during a drop-hop task under different visual constraints and (2) to contextualize these findings by comparing them with heel-strike running, to assess the relative loading demands of the drop-hop task.

Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is a common deformity of the hallux, which affects the functional ability of patients and reduces their quality of life. The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) Hallux Metatarsophalangeal (MTP)-Interphalangeal (IP) scale is a questionnaire widely used to comprehensively assess the condition of hallux deformities. The purpose of this study was to translate the AOFAS-MTP-IP scale into a Chinese version (AOFAS-MTP-IP-CV), conduct cross-cultural adaptation, and simultaneously evaluate its validity and reliability.

: Foot pain often persists in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), even during clinical remission. However, its causes are not fully understood. Identifying factors specifically associated with metatarsal pain, rather than generalized foot pain, may improve targeted management strategies.

Pre-silencing of TNF-α by targeted siRNA delivery mitigates glucocorticoid resistance of dexamethasone in rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive inflammatory autoimmune disease marked by relentless synovial inflammation and joint destruction, for which long-term remission remains challenging. Although dexamethasone (DEX) is commonly employed to rapidly control disease activity, its therapeutic effectiveness is often undermined by the development of glucocorticoid resistance (GCR) and cumulative systemic toxicities. Recent insights suggest that TNF-α-driven inflammation not only perpetuates joint pathology but also sustains a molecular landscape that favors GCR, underscoring an urgent need for therapeutic strategies that jointly target inflammatory signaling and steroid sensitivity.

Introduction: Brachymetatarsia is a rare congenital deformity characterized by a shortened metatarsal, frequently affecting the fourth ray. It can result in cosmetic concerns, pain, and functional discomfort. While distraction osteogenesis has been widely used, complications, such as joint subluxation remain a concern.
