Root-knot nematodes (RKNs), particularly , are one of the most destructive plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) affecting crop production worldwide. Previous earlier study revealed that calcinated oyster shell powder (OSP) possessed excellent suppression of tobacco RKN disease. However, the suppression mechanism of OSP against RKNs still remains unrevealed.

Mitigating Fox Predation on Freshwater Turtle Nests: Comparing Effectiveness of Three In Situ Protection Methods.

Ecol Evol

September 2025

Department of Ecological, Plant & Animal Sciences Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems, School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment, La Trobe University, Albury-Wodonga Campus West Wodonga Victoria Australia.

Freshwater turtles in the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB), Australia, have declined since the 1970s. Intense nest predation by introduced foxes likely contributes to these declines, disrupting juvenile recruitment needed to sustain populations. Traditional lethal control methods, such as baiting and shooting, have proven inadequate, highlighting the need for innovative conservation strategies.

Mechanisms of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease induced by 48-week PCB138 exposure and theabrownin intervention.

Environ Int

September 2025

State Key Laboratory of Cellular Stress Biology, School of Life Sciences, Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University, Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences, Xiamen University, Xiamen, Fujian 361102, China. Electronic address:

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), linked to lipid dysregulation, poses global health risks. 2,2',3,4,4',5'-hexachlorobiphenyl (PCB138) is a persistent organic pollutant that poses potential threats to liver health due to its environmental persistence and bioaccumulation. Theabrown (TB), a natural compound extracted from black tea, exhibits lipid-lowering and antioxidant properties, but its protective effects on PCB138-induced liver injury have not been thoroughly investigated.

This study examined whether subscales of the Youth Level of Service Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI) have added value beyond the total score. Including 238 detained Japanese juvenile offenders (ages 16-19), the proportional reduction in mean squared error (PRMSE) method was applied. Most subscales showed added value, except for Attitudes/Orientation.
