Article Abstract
An N-pivot diglycolamide extractant (DGA-TREN) was synthesized for the first time and its complexation behaviour was studied towards trivalent lanthanide/actinide ions. The solvent extraction studies suggested a unique selectivity reversal in the extraction of trivalent actinides versus trivalent lanthanides which was observed performing extraction studies in an ionic liquid vis-à-vis a molecular diluent for a tripodal TREN-based diglycolamide ligand (DGA-TREN) vs. a tripodal diglycolamide ligand (T-DGA) which may have great significance in radioactive waste remediation. The nature of the bonding to Eu(3+) ion was investigated by EXAFS as well as by DFT calculations.

In this study, employing a 2D electrodeposition in situ assembly method, a high-performance HS sensor based on a p-n type CuO-CuFeO heterostructure ordered nanowire arrays was successfully fabricated on silicon substrates. Compared to CuO, CuO-CuFeO nanowire arrays exhibits an ideal interfacial barrier structure and higher initial resistance, with a response to 10 ppm of HS at room temperature (20 ± 3 °C) increased by 225 times and a response time reduced by over 2400 s. Purpose: To describe differences in the expression of selected host biomarkers, by analysing the aqueous humour (AH), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum of patients with ocular syphilis, both with and without neurosyphilis and HIV infection, to support the diagnosis of ocular syphilis.
Methods: A prospective observational descriptive study was conducted at Tygerberg Academic Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, from February 1, 2018, to January 31, 2021. The study included all patients aged 18 years or older who presented to the eye clinic with ocular syphilis, provided they had a positive serum Treponema pallidum antibodies (TPA) test, an RPR titre of ≥ 8 and confirmed ocular inflammation.

We develop a model that integrates evolutionary matrix game theory with Mendelian genetics. Within this framework, we define the genotype dynamics that describes how the frequencies of genotypes change in sexual diploid populations. We show that our formal definition of evolutionary stability for genotype distributions implies the stability of the corresponding interior equilibrium point in the genotype dynamics.
