Article Abstract

A bone imaging toolkit of 21 fluorescent probes with variable spectroscopic properties, bone mineral binding affinities, and antiprenylation activities has been created, including a novel linking strategy. The linking chemistry allows attachment of a diverse selection of dyes fluorescent in the visible to near-infrared range to any of the three clinically important heterocyclic bisphosphonate bone drugs (risedronate, zoledronate, and minodronate or their analogues). The resultant suite of conjugates offers multiple options to "mix and match" parent drug structure, fluorescence emission wavelength, relative bone affinity, and presence or absence of antiprenylation activity, for bone-related imaging applications.

Simulating at-sensor hyperspectral satellite data for inland water algal blooms.

Sci Total Environ

September 2025

Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering, Queen's University, 99 University Ave, K7L 3N6 Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Hyperspectral data have been overshadowed by multispectral data for studying algal blooms for decades. However, newer hyperspectral missions, including the recent Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) Ocean Color Instrument (OCI), are opening the doors to accessible hyperspectral data, at spatial and temporal resolutions comparable to ocean color and multispectral missions. Simulation studies can help to understand the potential of these hyperspectral sensors prior to launch and without extensive field data collection.

Objective: This study aims to develop a robust, multi-task deep learning framework that integrates vessel segmentation and radiomic analysis for the automated classification of four retinal conditions- diabetic retinopathy (DR), hypertensive retinopathy (HR), papilledema, and normal fundus-using fundus images.

Materials: AND.

Methods: A total of 2,165 patients from eight medical centers were enrolled.

Fluorescence imaging has become an indispensable tool in modern biology, enabling the visualisation of dynamic molecular processes with spatial and temporal precision. Traditional strategies rely heavily on the conjugation of large, extrinsic fluorophores, such as green fluorscent protein or organic dyes, through linkers to proteins or peptides of interest. While sometimes effective, these bulky labels can interfere with native protein structure, function, and interactions, limiting their utility in studying sensitive or compact biological systems.

Differentiable rendering has been widely adopted in computer graphics as a powerful approach to inverse problems, enabling efficient gradient-based optimization by differentiating the image formation process with respect to millions of scene parameters. Inspired by this paradigm, we propose a physically-based inverse rendering (IR) framework, the first ever platform for PET image reconstruction using Dr.Jit, for PET image reconstruction.

Quantifying hygroscopic deformation in lignocellulosic tissues: a digital volume correlation tool comparison.

Front Plant Sci

August 2025

Cluster of Excellence livMatS @ FIT-Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies, University of Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.

Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) was used to study the hygroscopic shrinkage in lignocellulosic tissues. For this, small tissue segments of only a few cells were prepared from the endocarp of fruits, the sclereid cell layer of pine cone scales, the sclerenchyma fiber sheath of peripheral vascular bundles in and latewood of . The cells were imaged in a wet and dry state using X-ray nano-holotomography.
