Background: Inflammation-based prognostic scores such as the neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR), Glasgow prognostic score (GPS), and modified GPS (mGPS) have been reported to have prognostic value in patients with many types of cancer, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, the role of the C-reactive protein/Albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio in ESCC has not yet been evaluated.
Methods: A total of 468 patients suffering from histologically proven ESCC were enrolled between January 2000 and July 2010. The GPS, mGPS, NLR, PLR and CRP/Alb ratios were tested together with established prognostic factors in univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses of overall survival (OS).
Results: The optimal cutoff level for the CRP/Alb ratio was 0.50. The CRP/Alb ratio (continuous) had higher AUC values at 12 months (0.796), 24 months (0.805), and 36 months (0.815) than the NLR, GPS and mGPS. In univariate analysis, the 5-year OS rate for patients with a CRP/Alb ratio > 0.50 was 43.4%, while the rate for patients with a CRP/Alb ratio ≤ 0.50 was 17.7% (P < 0.0001). In multivariate analysis, patients with a CRP/Alb ratio > 0.50 had worse survival than patients with a CRP/Alb ratio ≤ 0.50 (HR: 2.44; 95% CI: 1.82-3.26; P < 0.0001).
Conclusion: In summary, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to identify the CRP/Alb ratio as a novel inflammation-based prognostic factor in a large group of ESCC patients. The prognostic value of the CRP/Alb ratio needs to be verified in prospective multicenter studies.

This study explored the relationship between the C-reactive protein (CRP)-to-albumin (ALB) ratio (CRP/ALB) levels and the severity of coronary artery lesions and prognosis in 100 hypertensive patients with acute myocardial infarction. MATERIAL AND METHODS We enrolled 100 hypertensive patients with acute myocardial infarction and categorized them into different severity groups of coronary artery lesions based on coronary angiography results.

Malnutrition and systemic inflammation are prevalent among older hospitalized patients and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The C-reactive protein to albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio reflects inflammatory and nutritional status and may serve as a useful prognostic biomarker. To evaluate the prognostic value of the CRP/Alb ratio in predicting early in-hospital mortality in a large cohort of elderly patients, independent of the admission diagnosis.

Introduction: Obtaining an accurate preoperative diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infections (PJI) is challenging, making differentiating between septic and aseptic failures difficult. We sought to identify the value of common serum biomarkers and evaluate the accuracy of three ratios in the diagnosis of PJI after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA): albumin-globulin ratio (AGR), C-reactive protein-albumin ratio (CAR), and C-reactive protein-AGR ratio (CAGR).
Methods: Patients undergoing PJI and aseptic revisions after TKA between 2011 and 2021 were retrospectively reviewed at a single institution.

Objective: This study examines the association between serum D-dimer (D-D), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CRP/ALB), and the prognosis of intravenous thrombolysis in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
Methods: Ninety AIS patients admitted from June 2021 to October 2023 were included and divided into poor prognosis (29 cases) and good prognosis groups (61 cases) based on 90-day follow-up modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores. Binary logistic regression identified prognostic factors, while ROC analysis evaluated the predictive efficacy of D-D, NLR, and CRP/ALB.
