Purpose: The stress sensitization model states that early traumatic experiences increase vulnerability to the adverse effects of subsequent stressful life events. This study examined the effect of stress sensitization on development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in Chinese adolescents who experienced the pipeline explosion.
Methods: A total of 670 participants completed self-administered questionnaires on demographic characteristics and degree of explosion exposure, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), and the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C). Associations among the variables were explored using MANOVA, and main effects and interactions were analyzed.
Results: Overall MANOVA tests with the PCL-C indicated significant differences for gender (F=6.86, p=.000), emotional abuse (F=6.79, p=.000), and explosion exposure (F=22.40, p=.000). There were significant interactions between emotional abuse and explosion exposure (F=3.98, p=.008) and gender and explosion exposure (F=2.93, p=.033).
Conclusions: Being female, childhood emotional abuse, and a high explosion exposure were associated with high PTSD symptom levels. Childhood emotional abuse moderated the effect of explosion exposure on PTSD symptoms. Thus, stress sensitization influenced the development of PTSD symptoms in Chinese adolescents who experienced the pipeline explosion as predicted by the model.

The WRF-NAQPMS (Weather Research and Forecasting- Nested Air Quality Prediction Modeling System) model are used to simulate radioactive fallout of nuclear explosions from the stabilized nuclear cloud. The distribution of particle radioactivity and the radioactive distribution are described by modeling the stabilized nuclear cloud. In addition, a three-dimensional radiation calculation module and a radionuclide calculation module are constructed based on the vertical diffusion theory of radioactive materials and the radionuclide fractionation model.

At Semipalatinsk nuclear test site (SNTS), nuclear weapons tests lasted from 1949 to 1989, with a total of 468 nuclear weapons explosions (including 117 air and ground tests) being conducted. The aim of our study is to evaluate trends in the field of conducted research on the assessment of the health status of the population of Kazakhstan exposed to radiation as a result of nuclear weapons testing at the STNS, as well as the contribution of various countries, institutions, journals and authors to these studies. Research methods included: formulating research questions; selecting databases to search for the information of interest; collecting information on publications; selecting a program to conduct bibliometric analysis; creating maps according to research questions; analyzing bibliometric data.

Open burn/open detonation (OB/OD) disposes of explosive waste via uncontrolled combustion, releasing harmful pollutants like toxic gases and particulate matter. Colfax, Louisiana, houses the nation's only commercially OB/OD thermal treatment (TT) facility, raising concerns about environmental and public health impacts due to its emissions. In this exploratory pilot study, we investigated metabolic alterations indicative of potential health impacts from exposure to emissions from a TT facility through an untargeted metabolomics analysis of urine samples obtained from local residents.
