Article Abstract

We provide conditions under which 2D digital images preserve their topological properties under rigid transformations. We consider the two most common digital topology models, namely dual adjacency and well-composedness. This paper leads to the proposal of optimal preprocessing strategies that ensure the topological invariance of images under arbitrary rigid transformations. These results and methods are proved to be valid for various kinds of images (binary, gray-level, label), thus providing generic and efficient tools, which can be used in particular in the context of image registration and warping.

In vitro assessment of the inhibitory effect of antiplatelet drugs on platelet aggregation is frequently employed to guide personalized antiplatelet therapy in clinical practice. However, existing methods for detecting platelet aggregation rely heavily on high concentrations of exogenous agonists, which may obscure part of the inhibitory effect of antiplatelet drugs and lead to an underestimation of their effects. This study validates a novel analytical strategy for evaluating the effects of antiplatelet drugs by quantifying the microscopic three-dimensional morphological parameters of platelet aggregates formed through spontaneous aggregation on a glass surface.

Purpose: To investigate the images and treatment differences for Type IIIa atlantoaxial rotary dislocation (AARD) by comparing the imaging characteristics of patients with Type III and Type IIIa AARD.

Methods: The present study retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 35 patients who underwent posterior C1-C2 intra-articular fusion due to AARD from our hospital database. Among them, 23 patients were diagnosed with Type III AARD, while the remaining 12 patients were diagnosed with Type IIIa AARD.

Department of Cardiology, Heart Center Leipzig, University of Leipzig, Strümpellstraße 39, 04289, Leipzig, Deutschland.

Since the earliest studies on transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), the heart team concept has been an integral component of treatment planning for patients with aortic valve stenosis (AS). The primary objective is to ensure patient-specific, guideline-based treatment through the structured involvement of all relevant medical disciplines. The TAVI heart team is strongly recommended with a class I indication in both European and US clinical guidelines.

The authors present a rare variant of celiac axis anatomy including acute angle of departure, ultra-short length and «parallel» course of the main branches. When analyzing the literature on this problem, they found no similar reports. This clinical example once again emphasizes significant variability of celiac axis anatomy and the need for a thorough examination of patients using all possible diagnostic methods, especially before surgery.
