Osteonecrosis, also known as avascular necrosis or osteochondrosis, refers to the death of bone tissue resulting from a to lack of blood supply. Osteonecrosis of the foot is most commonly seen in the talus and metatarsals and not as frequently in other bones. We report an extremely rare case of late-onset osteonecrosis of the proximal phalangeal head of the great toe in a 9-year-old male. Plain radiographs and computed tomography did not show any findings of osteonecrosis initially. However, because of persistent pain at the interphalangeal joint of the first toe and a decrease in the range of movement at the interphalangeal joint at 7 months after injury, the patient underwent additional examination with repeated radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging. We diagnosed late-onset osteonecrosis as a result of a subtle traumatic type I dislocation. Conservative treatment led to spontaneous recovery, leaving a bony fragment in the interphalangeal joint. To our knowledge, this is the first report of late-onset proximal phalangeal osteonecrosis after trauma in the great toe.

A 37-year-old man presented with swelling and erythema in the left first toe after a prior trauma, suspicious for osteomyelitis. X-ray and computed tomography (CT) scans revealed a radiolucent lesion with cortical disruption. A 99mTc/tricine/HYNIC ubiquicidin 29-41 (UBI) scintigraphy showed increased uptake but a non-accumulative time-activity curve, indicating a false positive for infection.

Objective: Hirudotherapy (HT), the therapeutic use of medicinal leeches, has been practised for centuries, and the interest in modern medicine has recently been renewed. This study evaluates the clinical outcomes of HT at Herba Medical Center in Azerbaijan between 2020 and 2024, focusing on its efficacy across 11 medical conditions.
Methods: A total of 181 patients were treated using disposable medicinal leeches () sourced from hygienic farms approved by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

Background A cold-sensitivity constitution (CSC), termed "Hiesho" in Japanese, is a common condition among young women that impairs quality of life through reduced peripheral circulation and autonomic imbalance. In our previous study, we reported that cold intolerance is associated with an imbalance in autonomic nervous function, as evaluated by heart rate variability (HRV). Conversely, footbathing increases parasympathetic nervous activity (PNA) and increases both peripheral blood flow and epidermal temperature.

Introduction: Hallux valgus (HV) is a common foot deformity characterized by lateral deviation of the great toe. Despite known associations with gender, age, and footwear, the prevalence of HV and its associated risk factors in Japan remain unclear. We conducted the first-ever prospective population-based cohort study (HAPPI study) in Japan to elucidate the prevalence of HV and identify its associated risk factors.

Introduction: We developed a smartphone application capable of automatically measuring the hallux valgus angle (HVA) and various intermetatarsal angles by capturing radiographic images displayed on a monitor. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of these measurements using the application.
Methods: Three users-a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, a resident, and a nonhealthcare professional (Users 1, 2, and 3)-independently used the application to measure angles on 92 radiographs from 92 consecutive patients.
