Vibrio cholerae is a water- and food-borne human pathogen, and V. cholerae serotypes O1 and O139 have attracted attention because of their severe pathogenesis. However, non-O1, non-O139 cholera vibrios (NCVs) were also recently recognized as having virulence properties. In this study, we developed a cross-priming amplification (CPA) method for the detection of all serotypes of V. cholerae. The specificity of the CPA method was tested using a panel of 60 different bacterial strains. All of the V. cholerae strains showed positive results, and 41 other types of bacteria gave negative results. The limit of detection of the CPA method was 79.28 fg of genomic DNA, 4.2 × 10(2) CFU/ml for bacteria in pure culture, and 5.6 CFU per 25 g of sample with pre-enrichment. This method showed a higher sensitivity than the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method did and was more convenient to perform. These results indicate that the CPA method can be used for the rapid preliminary screening of V. cholerae.

Bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) offer an alternative to monoclonal antibody (mAb) cocktails for addressing the loss of efficacy due to the rapid emergence of SARS-CoV-2 mutants. The structure and specificity of the parental antibodies influence the development of a highly neutralizing bsAb. To design an effective bsAb, the recognition of 44 single-chain fragment variable (scFv) antibodies against variants of SARS-CoV-2 was evaluated, along with an assessment of their ability to competitively bind to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) compared to the most potent neutralizing mAbs.

This paper reports on a study of the adsorption and thermal stability of phenylphosphonic acid (PPA) adsorbed by physical vapor deposition on the surfaces of epitaxial cerium oxide films of different structure, stoichiometry and composition. Advanced analytical methods based on photoelectron spectroscopy combined with DFT calculations showed that the binding of PPA to cerium oxide is through the phosphonate group, while the decomposition temperature is defined by the nature of the oxide. Tridentate PPA species are present on all substrates (CeO, CeO, CeO, and CeWO), indicating a strong affinity of PPA for cerium oxide.

A high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method was developed and validated to quantify puerarin encapsulated in exosome-like nanoparticles derived from Pueraria lobata (ENsP). The method demonstrated high specificity, excellent linearity (r = 0.9999), and low limits of detection (LOD: 0.

Background: Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA) is most commonly caused by Aspergillus fumigatus (AF-CPA). Serum A. fumigatus-IgG, a pivotal investigation for diagnosing CPA, misses 10%-15% of CPA cases.

Background: Research on global competence (GC) among postgraduate pharmacy students remains limited, with most studies focusing on undergraduates or general student populations. To address this gap, this study investigates the GC of Chinese pharmacy graduate students using the OECD's 2018 PISA framework and established GC assessment tools. By analyzing personal attributes, family background, and academic environment, this study identifies key influencing factors and evaluates the effectiveness of current educational practices.
