The widespread distribution of smartphones, with their integrated sensors and communication capabilities, makes them an ideal platform for point-of-care (POC) diagnosis, especially in resource-limited settings. Molecular diagnostics, however, have been difficult to implement in smartphones. We herein report a diffraction-based approach that enables molecular and cellular diagnostics. The D3 (digital diffraction diagnosis) system uses microbeads to generate unique diffraction patterns which can be acquired by smartphones and processed by a remote server. We applied the D3 platform to screen for precancerous or cancerous cells in cervical specimens and to detect human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA. The D3 assay generated readouts within 45 min and showed excellent agreement with gold-standard pathology or HPV testing, respectively. This approach could have favorable global health applications where medical access is limited or when pathology bottlenecks challenge prompt diagnostic readouts.

The rapid advancement of three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies has significantly expanded their potential applications such as sensors and detector technology. In this study, the gamma-ray shielding performance of ulexite-doped composite resins fabricated via Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printing was experimentally investigated to evaluate radiation attenuation capacity. Composite resins containing different ulexite loadings (0, 1, 3, and 5 wt%) were exposed to gamma rays at energies of 356, 662, 1173, and 1333 keV to evaluate their attenuation characteristics.

Crystal arrangements with versatile architectures can be developed by varying functionalization in structurally similar building components and exploring the significance of such networking, which remains a key focus of interest in the functional world of applied inorganic chemistry. In this context, we have introduced a series of novel coordination polymers (CPs), ({[Cd(L1)(SeCN)]·0.5CHCl.

A cryogenic tensile testing system for in situ neutron diffraction measurement, incorporating macroscopic strain distribution measurement through the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method, was developed. By integrating this system with a versatile horizontal load frame, tensile tests can be conducted within the temperature range from room temperature to 20 K. A tentative measurement combining in situ neutron diffraction and the DIC technique was performed on an ultrafine-grained 304 stainless steel during tensile deformation at 77 K.

This study was designed to systematically evaluate the osteogenic efficacy of 3D-printed tetrahedral bioactive glass particles in vertical bone regeneration and compare their performance with that of conventional bone substitute materials. In this investigation, 3D tetrahedral bioactive glass particles were fabricated using digital light processing (DLP) additive manufacturing technology. The structural integrity and chemical composition of the particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to confirm their conformity to design specifications.

Coherent diffractive imaging (CDI), with its lensless geometry and theoretically perfect transfer function, is considered as one of the most promising paradigms to achieve the Abbe resolution limit. However, recent advances on pushing the resolution limit in high-numerical-aperture (NA) CDIs has thus far been challenging. Here, we report a nearly 0.
