Parasitoids of the hymenopterous family Encyrtidae are one of the most important groups of natural enemies of soft scale insects and have been used extensively in biological control. We summarize existing knowledge of the biology, ecology, and behavior of these parasitoids and how it relates to biological control. Soft scale stage/size and phenology are important determinants of host range and host utilization, which are key aspects in understanding how control by these parasitoids is exerted. Furthermore, the nutritional ecology of encyrtids and their physiological interactions with their hosts affect soft scale insect population dynamics. Lastly, the interactions among encyrtids, heteronomous parasitoids, and ants shape parasitoid species complexes and consequently have a direct impact on the biological control of soft scale insects.

We investigate nonreciprocal XY (NRXY) models defined on two-dimensional lattices in which the coupling strength of a spin with its neighbors varies with their position in the frame defined by the current spin orientation. As expected from the seminal work of Dadhichi et al., [Nonmutual torques and the unimportance of motility for long-range order in two-dimensional flocks, Phys.

Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is regarded as the most promising technique for the sustainable production of green hydrogen due to its multiple advantages such as high working current density and high hydrogen purity. However, the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has a significant impact on the overall efficiency of the electrolytic water reaction due to its sluggish kinetics, which has prompted the search for catalysts possessing both high activity and durability. Iridium oxide exhibits excellent stability under acidic conditions but has poor catalytic activity, leading to its inability to meet the strict requirements of large-scale industrial applications.

Background: Water hardness, which refers to the level of dissolved calcium and magnesium salts, is of significant public health concern due to its potential impact on health. The association between water hardness and digestive diseases remains underexplored, with limited evidence from small-scale clinical studies. Given the rising prevalence of digestive disorders worldwide, large-scale cohort studies are needed to address this gap in the literature.

Retinal surgery is one of the most delicate and complex operations, which is close to or even beyond the physiological limitation of the human hand. Robots have demonstrated the ability to filter hand tremors and motion scaling which has a promising output in microsurgery. Here, we present a novel soft micron accuracy robot (SMAR) for retinal surgery and achieve a more precise and safer operation.

Computed Tomography (CT) to Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) image registration is crucial for image-guided radiotherapy and surgical procedures. However, achieving accurate CT-CBCT registration remains challenging due to various factors such as inconsistent intensities, low contrast resolution and imaging artifacts. In this study, we propose a Context-Aware Semantics-driven Hierarchical Network (referred to as CASHNet), which hierarchically integrates context-aware semantics-encoded features into a coarse-to-fine registration scheme, to explicitly enhance semantic structural perception during progressive alignment.
