Article Abstract

We present time-resolved reflectivity and transmissivity of hot, overdense plasma by employing a multicolor probe beam, consisting of harmonics at wavelengths of 800 nm, 400 nm and 266 nm. The hot-dense plasma, formed by exciting a fused silica target with a 30 fs, 2 × 10(17) W cm(-2) intensity pulse, shows a sub-picosecond transition in reflectivity (transmissivity), and a wavelength-dependent fall (rise) in the reflected (transmitted) signal. A simple model of probe absorption in the plasma via inverse bremsstrahlung is used to determine electron-ion collision frequency at different plasma densities.

Planar cross-scale structures encode position and posture, enabling nanometer-level accuracy and multi-scale cascaded precision, emerging as a potential sensing device for semiconductor manufacturing and inspection systems. However, the fabrication of cross-scale hybrid structures, which is the integration of structures spanning three orders of magnitude in feature dimensions (500 nm-1.5 mm) on single substrates, still faces challenges.

Development of a Reflective Electrochromic Zinc-Ion Battery Device for Infrared Emissivity Control Using Self-Doped Polyaniline Films.

Electrochromic devices (ECDs) capable of modulating both visible color and infrared (IR) emissivity are promising for applications in smart thermal camouflage and multifunctional displays. However, conventional transmissive ECDs suffer from limited IR modulation due to the low IR transmittance of transparent electrodes. Here, we report a reflection-type electrochromic zinc-ion battery (HWEC-ZIB) using a self-doped polyaniline nanorod film (SP(ANI-MA)) as the active layer.

The study of the interaction of polarized light with any birefringent media can bring crucial information about their properties. Such investigations often rely on the precise control of polarized light to characterize the medium birefringence, while assuming ideal features. In this article, we perform polarimetric measurements of the Jones matrix of various transmissive and reflective components while not assuming ideal properties of the studied samples.

The graphene/h-BN heterostructures exhibit a unique plasmon-phonon polaritons coupling mode in the mid-IR frequency spectrum, with adjustable excitation intensity through external voltage. Such an innovation opens up avenues for designing low-power, subwavelength, and electrically tunable devices. A grating structure is introduced in this paper to overcome the constraints posed by previous probe-based methods for wavevector matching.

To establish a secure and high-bandwidth communication link between the gateway node and the central node in the internet of underwater things (IoUwT), it is meaningful to introduce quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols into underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) systems. However, the line-of-sight (LOS) requirement for photon transmission will pose an inevitable challenge to the QKD-based UWOC system. In this work, an optical intelligent reflecting surface (OIRS) array mounted on an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) is utilized for the first time to alleviate the LOS blockage and enable more reliable underwater wireless optical quantum link for both discrete-variable quantum key distribution (DV-QKD) and continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD).
