The Effect of Substrate Type on the Optical and Structural Properties of Sol-Gel ZnO and ZnO:Ga Films.

In this work, a sol-gel spin coating method was applied to obtain ZnO and ZnO:Ga thin films on a glass and ITO-coated glass substrate. Their structural, optical, and electrical properties were investigated with respect to their dependence on the different substrates, the number of layers (two and four), and the annealing temperature (300 and 400 °C). X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed a hexagonal structure corresponding to the wurtzite phase for ZnO and ZnO:Ga films.

Purpose: We developed and evaluated machine learning models for predicting the risk of recurrent uveitis using baseline clinical characteristics, to inform clinical decision-making and risk stratification.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using the Ocular Autoimmune Systemic Inflammatory Infectious Study registry, including 966 patients (1432 eyes) with uveitis. Three machine learning classifiers-random Forest, eXtreme Gradient Boosting, and radial basis function support vector classifier-were trained on preprocessed baseline demographic and clinical data.

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was used to treat commercially available cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) to tune CNC surface charge and investigate its effect on the self-assembly in a solid film. A structure-property relationship was investigated through morphology, mechanical and thermal properties, and optical properties determination. We observed the formation of a completely oriented structure through SEM imaging, the presence of a nematic domain through cross-polarized microscopy, and a completely transparent CNC film with no trace of structural color or iridescence.
