The evolution of adhesive procedures and ceramic systems has allowed for the placement of minimum thickness laminate veneers on unprepared teeth. A 20-year-old post-orthodontics male patient with multiple diastemas required restorative procedures. A multidisciplinary approach was performed, involving gingivectomy, in-office bleaching, and application of minimum thickness veneers. The immediate and 1-year followup results exceeded expectations; however, long-term clinical trials are necessary to evaluate the performance of this new type of indirect restoration.

Background: Persistent full-thickness macular holes (FTMHs) following primary surgery represent a therapeutic challenge. Various surgical treatment approaches have been proposed. This study evaluates anatomical and functional outcomes of a temporary silicone oil tamponade in persistent FTMH in a larger cohort.

To contribute to the circular and sustainable economy framework, waste tire rubber reclamation by extracting carbon black through pyrolysis and heat treatment and then ingeniously designing it as an electromagnetic wave absorbing (EWA) material is proposed herein. The results showed that the pyrolysis-recycled carbon black (RCB) was heterogeneous with multiple interfaces, making it suitable for EWA application. The RCB was processed at 500 °C-1000 °C to study the changes in the composite and microstructure as well as the EWA properties.

Optimal proportions of plasticizers, crosslinkers, and hydrophobicity modifiers are essential for biopolymer film formulations. In this study, Cellulose acetate bioplastic films were prepared with varying concentrations of polyethylene glycol (PEG), malic acid (MA), and hexadecanoic acid (HAD). The resulting films were characterized for thickness (TH), water absorbency (WA), transparency (TP), and equilibrium moisture content (MC).

Throughout leaf development, cell expansion is dynamic and driven by the balance between local cell wall mechanical properties and the intracellular turgor pressure that overcomes the stiffness of the cell wall leading to plastic deformation. The epidermal pavement cells in most leaves begin development as small, polygonally shaped cells, but in mature leaves epidermal pavement cells are often shaped as highly lobed puzzle pieces. However, the developmental and biomechanical trajectories between these two end points have not before been fully characterized.

Three-dimensional cell cultures on biomimetic scaffolds have gained significant attention in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and scalable cell production. Current challenges in creating an ideal scaffold are providing maximum space for cells to grow while ensuring efficient nutrient, metabolite, and gas exchange to prevent the formation of necrotic or apoptotic regions. In our work, we grow insulin-producing INS-1 cells on touch-spun polycaprolactone (PCL) fiber scaffolds.
