Article Abstract

A number of ancillary supplies are used in the process of administering subcutaneous immunoglobulin. The particular type of ancillary supplies used (needles, tubing, and tape) may contribute to the development of issues at the local infusion site. Patient case studies demonstrate that changes in the choice of ancillary supplies can often alleviate these issues. The use of alternative ancillary supplies should be considered prior to the possibility of changing immunoglobulin replacement products in patients experiencing local infusion-site issues in order to improve outcomes and increase compliance. A treatment progression algorithm of ancillary supply adjustments has been developed.

Pulsed nanoelectrospray ionization (nanoESI) mass spectrometry has been proven to have several merits compared to its direct current (DC) counterparts, such as high sensitivity, high matrix tolerance, and low electrochemical interference. However, the reliance on external devices like signal generators and power amplifiers limits the technology's suitability for on-site use. Here, we developed a frequency-amplitude tunable hand-held pulsed high-voltage supply specifically designed for nanoESI.

A retrospective review of the utility of routinely inoculating thioglycollate broth for select sterile fluids was performed. The broth was contributory in ≤1 % of samples, prompting removal of broth inoculation from routine processing of these sample types. Laboratories should consider reviewing the routine use of enriched broth particularly in the context of modern ancillary methods of pathogen detection.

Background: Despite the wide variety of antiplatelet regimens and durations, the optimal treatment approach for chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) patients remains a subject of ongoing debate. While current guidelines recommend dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and clopidogrel, the development of drug-eluting stents (DES) and more potent agents has sparked interest in shorter DAPT regimens, followed by P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy, as a potential alternative. Recent trials and meta-analyses have shown that this approach may provide similar protection against thrombotic events with reduced bleeding risk.

Department of Plastic Surgery, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Background: The primary aim of this study was to establish the incidence of implant-related operations and revisions after delayed implant-based breast reconstruction over a 20-year period.

Methods: This study is an ancillary study to the Gothenburg Breast Reconstruction Study (GoBreast; NCT03963427). The first included patient was operated on in 2003, and the last was operated on in 2011.

Objectives: To conduct a survey of radiotherapy linear accelerator quality control (QC) across the United Kingdom (UK) on behalf of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) Radiotherapy Special Interest Group and Interdepartmental Dosimetry Audit (IDA) Sub-committee. To update results from a similar survey published in 2012 and compare to the latest guidance from IPEM Report 81 (2018). There have been significant developments of equipment and clinical practice since the previous survey and IPEM publication, requiring an updated review and benchmark of QC practice.
