Article Abstract

IgG4-related systemic diseases are characterized by a diffuse or mass forming inflammatory reaction rich in lymphocytes and IgG4-positive plasma cells (lymphoplasmacytic infiltration), fibrosclerosis of variable organs and obliterative phlebitis. They usually involve various organs including the pancreas, bile duct, gallbladder, salivary gland, retroperitoneum, kidney, lung, and prostate. However, most of them are accompanied by autoimmune pancreatitis, and good response to steroid treatment is one of the hallmarks of this disease. We report a case of an 67-year-old man with IgG4 associated sclerosing cholangitis, who was diagnosed by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and successfully treated with steroid therapy.

Introduction: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA-R) encephalitis is a neuropsychiatric disorder with additional psychiatric features caused by NMDA-R immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This report presents the follow-up of a patient in whom we assumed mild NMDA-R encephalitis in the first psychotic episode.

Case Study: A patient with a prior episode of an acute polymorphic psychotic syndrome relapsed five and a half years later following a severe COVID-19 infection.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is uncommon in the pediatric population, particularly when it manifests as severe anemia. AIHA is characterized by a positive direct antiglobulin test (DAT) and immune-mediated red blood cell (RBC) destruction. AIHA is subclassified on the basis of the thermal characteristics of autoantibody into warm, cold, and mixed.

The objective of this observational study was to describe the association between lag time from calving to first milking for colostrum harvest. Colostrum samples from primiparous and multiparous Holstein cows (n = 640) from a single herd milking approximately 5,200 cows 3 times daily in a 100-stall rotary parlor were used in this prospective cohort study. Calves were removed immediately after calving and not allowed to suckle their dam.

This research explored the effects of ginseng residue oligosaccharides (GRO-N) and ginseng polysaccharides (GP-N) on alleviating allergic rhinitis (AR). In a rat model induced by ovalbumin (OVA), both high doses of GRO-N (GRO-N-H) and GP-N (GP-N-H) significantly decreased the frequency of sneezing and rubbing behaviors in AR-affected rats. Histopathological evaluations and cytokine analyses revealed that GRO-N-H and GP-N-H notably lowered the count of goblet cells and reduced inflammatory cytokine levels in these rats.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic had significant global public health consequences, affecting over 200 countries and regions by 2020. The development and efficacy of specific vaccines, such as the mRNA-1273 (Spikevax) vaccine developed by Moderna Inc., have substantially reduced the impact of the pandemic and mitigated its consequences.
