Article Abstract

A microporous cadmium metal organic framework is synthesized and structurally characterized. The material possesses a 3-D framework with a 1-D sinusoidal chain and shows high selectivity for CO2 over N2. The selectivity is attributed to CO2 interacting with two phenyl rings of a V-shaped linker as estimated by the in situ XRD-DSC study.

There are often a large number of heavy metal/metalloid ions in industrial wastewater, and arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) mixed pollution is a common combination. Ferrihydrite (Fh) is a naturally occurring adsorbent material. It has a strong adsorption effect on As, but it is not stable, and its adsorption effect on Cd is poor.

Green biochar-alginate composite (BAB) was synthesized by integrating biochar derived from peanut shells (PS700) with Na-alginate using a Ca cross-linker. A hydrogel bead (SAB) was prepared using sodium alginate without biochar. The materials were characterized by the SEM-EDS, XRD, FTIR, XPS, TGA-DTG, and BET-analyzer techniques.

This research explores pomegranate peel as a precursor for activated carbon to eliminate cadmium (II) ions from aqueous solutions. The produced activated carbon was encapsulated with carboxymethylcellulose and polyethylenimine, then crosslinked with epichlorohydrin to form activated carbon carboxymethylcellulose and polyethyleneimine (ACCP) hydrogel beads. Numerous analytical methods were working to characterize the adsorbent, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms.

Common anode materials in aqueous alkaline electrolytes, such as cadmium, metal hydrides and zinc, usually suffer from remarkable biotoxicity, high cost, and serious side reactions. To overcome these problems, we develop a conjugated porous polymer (CPP) in-situ grown on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and Ketjen black (KB), noted as CN/rGO and CN/KB respectively, as the alternative anodes. The results show that CN/rGO electrode delivers a low redox potential (-0.

A major proportion of metal contaminants in aquatic environments is bound to suspended particulate matter (SPM), yet environmental monitoring typically focuses on dissolved metals, with the filtration step removing SPM. This step may inadvertently hide the potential risks posed by particulate metals. In this study, we used stable isotope tracers to quantify the contributions of SPM-bound metals to the bioaccumulation of nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb) in Ruditapes philippinarum, a widely distributed clam crucial to global aquaculture.
