Article Abstract

N-Lewis base mediated room temperature synthesis of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) starting from a solution of building blocks instead of partially soluble building blocks was developed. This protocol shifts COF synthetic chemistry from sealed tubes to open beakers. Non-conventional inclusion compounds of COF-1 were obtained by vapor phase infiltration of ferrocene and azobenzene, and solvation like effects were established.

Metacognitive-affective pathways linking intolerance of uncertainty with problematic smartphone use in emerging adults.

Addict Behav

Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau, Macao, China; Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Institute of Collaborative Innovation, University of Macau, Macao, China. Electronic address:

Emerging adulthood, a transition period in life, is highly intertwined with uncertainty and is thus potentially associated with increased vulnerability to maladaptive coping and problematic behaviors, including problematic smartphone use (PSU). The current study was designed to test not only the associations of intolerance of uncertainty (IU) with PSU tendencies but also the underlying (meta)cognitive and affective mechanisms. A sample of 566 participants who were 18-25 years old (M = 20.

Extracorporeal blood purification (EBP) is an emerging technique for reducing elevated levels of inflammatory mediators and/or endotoxins in critically ill patients with sepsis or other hyperinflammatory conditions. The oXiris filter combines endotoxin adsorption, cytokine adsorption, hemofiltration and anti-thrombosis, and an emerging body of evidence demonstrates its use in critical care patients with hyperinflammatory conditions and acute kidney injury (AKI). A group of Asia-Pacific experts convened to formulate consensus statements for the use of the oXiris filter based on a comprehensive review of publications.

Background: The protective function of the tetrandrine (TET)-mediated transient receptor potential vanilloid 2 (TRPV2) channel in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI) has been established in numerous investigations. The objective of the current study was to explain how TRPV2 further modulates downstream factors to influence the progression of MI/RI.

Methods: To this end, an MI/RI model in rats and a hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) cell model in H9c2 cells were constructed.

A tetrahydroxydiboron-mediated radical cyclization of unactivated alkenes under photoinduced reaction conditions was developed to synthesize ring-fused quinazolinones for the first time. The concise, mild and photocatalyst- and oxidant-free conditions, as well as the good functional group tolerance, render this protocol a green and convenient strategy for synthesizing polycyclic ring-fused quinazolinones. Mechanistic studies indicated that the process might involve a radical pathway.

The study of electrochemical oxidations has wide-ranging implications, from the development of new electrocatalysts for fuel cells for energy conversion, to the synthesis of fine chemicals. 2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) has been used for decades as a sustainable, metal-free mediator for chemical oxidations and is now being used for electrochemical oxidations. We describe here a novel approach to TEMPO-mediated electrooxidations, in which the chemical input and waste generated during electrooxidations of alcohols are minimized by using a multifunctional room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) to facilitate flow electrosynthesis.
