Article Abstract

Objectives: To outline the development and validation of a universal method for quantifying deltamethrin, permethrin and alpha-cypermethrin levels in a variety of long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets.

Methods: Using the HPLC conditions found in the CIPAC method for deltamethrin quantification, the method is based on a simple extraction technique for sample preparation (heating in isooctane at approximately 100 °C for 15 min). The method was validated for linearity, specificity, accuracy, precision, insecticide stability to extraction conditions and required extraction time for insecticide removal.

Results: The method was found valid for insecticide quantifications for various types of nets, namely for deltamethrin coated on polyester nets, deltamethrin incorporated into polyethylene nets, permethrin incorporated into polyethylene nets, alpha-cypermethrin coated on polyester nets and alpha-cypermethrin incorporated into polyethylene nets.

Conclusions: This method will provide a more simplified approach to testing a variety of nets (different types of fibre) containing deltamethrin, permethrin or alpha-cypermethrin.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are effective targeted therapeutics but are limited in their ability to incorporate less-potent payloads, varied drug mechanisms of action, different drug release mechanisms and tunable drug-to-antibody ratios. Here we introduce a technology to overcome these limitations called 'antibody-bottlebrush prodrug conjugates' (ABCs). An ABC consists of an IgG1 monoclonal antibody covalently conjugated to the terminus of a compact bivalent bottlebrush prodrug that has payloads bound through cleavable linkers and polyethylene glycol branches.

Cyclic peptides (CPs) are versatile building blocks whose conformational constraints foster ordered supramolecular architectures with potential in biomedicine, nanoelectronics, and catalysis. Herein, we report the development of biomimetic antifreeze materials by conjugating CPs bearing ice-binding residues to 4-arm polyethylene glycol (PEG) via click chemistry. The concentration-dependent self-assembly of these CP-PEG conjugates induces programmable morphological transitions, forming nanotube networks above the critical aggregation concentration (CAC) and two-dimensional nanosheet networks near the CAC.

Introduction: During the healing process, the functional gradient attachment of the rotator cuff (RC) tendon-bone interface fails to regenerate, which severely impedes load transfer and stress dissipation, thereby increasing the risk of retears. As a result, the treatment of rotator cuff tears remains a significant clinical challenge.

Methods: In this study, a dual-crosslinked hyaluronic acid/polyethylene glycol (HA/PEG) hydrogel scaffold was synthesized using hyaluronic acid and polyethylene glycol as base materials.

Adhesives are important in creating multilayer products, such as in packaging and construction. Most current hot-melt adhesives such as poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) and polyurethanes lack chemical recyclability and do not easily de-bond, complicating recycling. Here, we achieved tunable adhesive properties of chemically recyclable polyolefin-like multiblock copolymers through regulating the incorporation of crystalline hard blocks, amorphous soft blocks, and ester content highlighted by adhesive strengths up to 6.
