People may exhibit two kinds of modifications when demonstrating action for others: modifications to facilitate bottom-up, or sensory-based processing; and modifications to facilitate top-down, or knowledge-based processing. The current study examined actors' production of such modifications in action demonstrations for audiences that differed in their capacity for intentional reasoning. Actors' demonstrations of complex actions for a non-anthropomorphic computer system and for people (adult and toddler) were compared. Evidence was found for greater highlighting of top-down modifications in the demonstrations for the human audiences versus the computer audience. Conversely, participants highlighted simple perceptual modifications for the computer audience, producing more punctuated and wider ranging motions. This study suggests that people consider differences in their audiences when demonstrating action.

Objective: Beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) has been demonstrated to enhance cardiac function in patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM), the underlying mechanism remains unclear.
Methods: A DCM rat model was established, BHB was administered via intraperitoneal injection. The therapeutic effects of BHB were assessed based on cardiac function, fasting glucose levels, myocardial fibrosis markers and myocardial macrophage polarization.
In 2019, Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Medicine (BWH-DOM) established the Health Equity Innovation Pilot (HEIP) program to fund grants led by BWH-DOM faculty members that aimed to address inequities in hospital-based care delivery or outcomes. One-year grants of up to $40,000 total were cofunded by this BWH-DOM program and by the applicant's BWH-DOM division to support health equity research or care innovation interventions. Recipients participated in a learning collaborative, which included community-building, health equity research and advocacy-related educational sessions, and midterm and final presentations.

Learning when to initiate or withhold actions is essential for survival, requiring the integration of past experiences with new information to adapt to changing environments. The prelimbic cortex (PL) plays a central role in this process, with a stable PL neuronal population (ensemble) recruited during operant reward learning to encode response execution. However, it is unknown how this established reward-learning ensemble adapts to changing reward contingencies, such as reward omission during extinction.
