Article Abstract

Objective: To investigate the expression of E-cadherin and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).

Methods: Sixty-four patients who had previously undergone complete resection of tumor for LSCC were studied retrospectively. The level of E-cadherin expression in tumor tissues and paired nontumor tissues were determined by immunohistochemistry.

Results: The expression of E-cadherin in tumor tissues was significantly lower than nontumor tissues (P<0.001). Reduced E-cadherin expression was significantly correlated with lymph node metastases (P<0.001). Kaplan-Meier survival estimates showed a significant correlation between E-cadherin expression and patient survival rate (log-rank P<0.05). Multivariate Cox proportional hazards model analysis confirmed that lymph node metastases (P=0.001) and tumor stage (P=0.013) were statistically significant, independent predictor of prognosis.

Conclusion: Expression of E-cadherin is an independent predictor of lymph node metastases in LSCC. However, it does not appear to be a better prognostic predictor than other established markers in LSCC.

To explore the clinical features, histopathological morphology, and differential diagnosis of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma with abnormal expression of follicular dendritic cell markers. From 2020 to 2021, 4 cases of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma with abnormal expression of follicular dendritic cell markers diagnosed in Fujian Cancer Hospital (2 cases) and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University (2 cases) were collected. Different ancillary procedures such as HE, special stains, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization techniques were used to assess the histopathological features and immunophenotypes.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is common and deadly, often leading to metastasis, challenging treatment, and poor outcomes. Understanding its molecular basis is crucial for developing effective therapies.

Aims: This study aimed to investigate the role of Myosin Heavy Chain 11 (MYH11) in CRC progression, especially its effects on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cell behavior, and to explore its potential regulation by the EMT transcription factor zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1).

Objectives: Increasing detection of low-risk papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is associated with overdiagnosis and overtreatment. N6-methyladenosine (mA)-mediated microRNA (miRNA) dysregulation plays a critical role in tumor metastasis and progression. However, the functional role of mA-miRNAs in PTC remains unclear.

Objectives: To study the impact of SURF4 expression level on long-term prognosis of gastric cancer (GC) and biological behaviors of GC cells.

Methods: SURF4 expression level in GC and its association with long-term patient prognosis were analyzed using publicly available databases and in 155 GC patients with low and high SURF4 expressions detected immunohistochemically. The Cox proportional hazard model and Kaplan-Meier survival curves were used to analyze independent prognostic predictors of GC and the 5-year survival rate of the patients with different SURF4 expression levels.

Objectives: To investigate the role of circular RNA circ_0000437 in regulating biological behaviors of breast cancer cells and the molecular mechanism.

Methods: Breast cancer MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were transfected with sh-circ_0000437, mimics, inhibitor, si-CTPS1, or their respective negative controls. qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression levels of circ_0000437, let-7b-5p, CTPS1, Notch1, Hes1, and Numb in breast cancer cell lines and tissues.
