The ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) can be used to overcome the mode mixing problem of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) effectively. The EEMD method and Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) can be used to analyze pulse signals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The amplitudes of the added white noise were about 0.1 and 0.2 time standard deviation of the investigated signal respectively. The difference of average frequency and average energy of every mode between normal pulse, slippery pulse, wiry pulse and wiry-slippery pulse were demonstrated based on different amplitudes of the added white noise. The results showed that it is more in line with clinical practice when the amplitude of the added white noise is about 0.2 time standard deviation of the investigated signal.

In many model organisms, the circadian system has been proposed to comprise multiple oscillators that interact to promote accuracy of the clock as well as intricacies of rhythmic outputs. In Neurospora crassa, the circadian transcriptional/translational loop comprising of the FRQ (Frequency) and WCC (White Collar Complex) proteins has been instrumental in explaining many attributes of the clock including entrainment and rhythms in development and gene expression; in addition, some non-circadian oscillations can be unmasked when the FRQ-WCC feedback loop is eliminated. These rhythms have often lost defining circadian characteristics and are potentially controlled by other oscillators, termed FRQ-less oscillators (FLOs) in Neurospora.

Purpose: Lipid accumulation in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) contributes to cellular stress and progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). However, the regulation of lipid homeostasis in AMD development is not fully elucidated. The study investigates the effects of Pnpla2 deletion, a gene involved in lipid regulation, on key markers of RPE senescence and aging with potential relevance to AMD.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of varying endocryocoagulation parameters on retinal function and histological integrity in a rabbit model and to assess the feasibility of intraocular foreign body (IOFB) removal using a 20G cryoprobe. Twenty-seven adult New Zealand white rabbits were randomly assigned to three experimental groups (n = 9 per group). Endocryocoagulation was administered with a 20G cryoprobe under different conditions: Group An underwent vitreous cavity freezing for 5 s; Group B underwent retinal surface freezing for 5 s; and Group C underwent vitreous cavity freezing for 10 s.

Methimazole (MMI) is an antithyroid drug often prescribed for hyperthyroid conditions. While perinatal MMI exposure is used to model hypothyroidism in rodents, resulting in auditory cortex malformation, mice are reportedly less effective in lowering serum thyroxine levels. This raises the question on MMI-induced hypothyroidism being the underlying cause of cortical malformation.

Electroretinography (ERG) is pivotal in elucidating retinal function, yet investigations into the temporal dynamics of ERG signals in New Zealand White (NZW) and Dutch-belted (DB) rabbits remain scarce. This study presents a longitudinal assessment of retinal function in both NZW and DB strains. ERG recordings were conducted on four NZW and four DB rabbits at 2, 7, 15, and 24 months of age, encompassing both dark-adapted and light-adapted protocols at each time point.
