Objectives: Understanding the available methods to study blood flow in the oral cavity can enhance knowledge of research methodology on periodontal circulation related to disease initiation and progression as well as wound healing. This study aims to systematically review non-invasive techniques that allow for the assessment of oral tissue perfusion in clinical and pre-clinical studies.
Methods: A complete electronic literature search in 5 databases (NLM PubMed, Embase, EBSCOhost CINAHL, EBSCOhost Dentistry and Oral Sciences Source, and Wiley Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) was conducted by two reviewers.

We performed a systematic review on the agreement and reproducibility of 3 advanced imaging methods, 3-dimensional echocardiography (3DE), cardiac computed tomography (CCT), and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), for quantifying aortic regurgitation (AR) severity. Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases were systematically searched using the PICO model from inception to February 4, 2022, for publications that quantified AR severity with 3DE, CCT, or CMR. Measurement agreement and intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility results were extracted from each study.

This case report describes the 2-dimensional transthoracic (2D-TTE), 3-dimensional transthoracic (3D-TTE) and intracardiac echocardiographic (ICE) characterization of the fossa ovalis region in 2 horses. The first case was presented for poor performance and showed an anechoic zone in the interatrial septum on 2D-TTE. Based on 3D-TTE a deepened fossa ovalis could be identified and using ICE the presence of an interatrial shunt could be excluded.
