A concept for an all-waveguide fiber-optic rotation sensor is discussed, and the results of preliminary tests of key elements are described. A single channel waveguide coupler design provides the functions of an optical switch, a 3-dB beam splitter, a phase retarder, and a signal modulator, all of which may be formed on the same chip and interconnected by channel single-mode waveguides. Preliminary test results for the waveguide coupler and for a rotation sensor without the coupler are presented. Signal processing, polarization control, and interconnection of the waveguide components are discussed.

Vortex beams, characterized by orbital angular momentum (OAM), hold significant potential in optical communications, quantum information processing, and optical manipulation. However, existing metasurface designs are largely confined to single-degree-of-freedom control, such as static OAM generation or fixed focal points, which limiting their ability to integrate polarization multiplexing with dynamic focal tuning. To address this challenge, we propose a tunable multifunctional cascaded metasurface that synergizes polarization-sensitive phase engineering with interlayer rotational coupling, overcoming conventional device limitations.

The Rose (genus Rosa) has become a significant factor in the Bangladeshi flower industry, both in terms of exports and local consumption. However, rose farming in this country faces serious challenges due to diseases affecting its leaves, which weaken the plants and result in lower flower yields and financial losses for farmers. Rosa (genus Rosa) is one of the most attractive and commercially valuable flower genera.

BODIPY-functionalized host molecules have been used as effective visible-light photosensitizers in the conversion of α-terpinene to ascaridole in the presence of molecular oxygen. Host-guest interactions enhance the effective local concentration of the substrate and singlet oxygen generated by the photosensitizing host. This results in up to a 28-fold increase in the rate of conversion depending on the host employed.

In rotating machinery, the demands for torque sensor resolution and range in various torque measurements are becoming increasingly stringent. This paper presents a novel variable stiffness torque sensor designed to meet the demands for high resolution or a large range under varying measurement conditions. Unlike traditional strain gauge-based torque sensors, this sensor combines the advantages of torsion springs and magnetorheological fluid (MRF) to achieve dynamic adjustments in both resolution and range.

The advancement of sensor technologies enables the measurement of high-quality continuous blood pressure signals, which has become an important area in healthcare. The development of such application-specific sensors can be time-consuming, expensive, and difficult to test or validate with known and consistent waveforms. In this manuscript, an open-source blood pressure waveform simulator with a Python validation package is described.
