We report on a compact Nd:YAG amplifier emitting a maximum pulse energy of 14 mJ. By amplifying a passively Q-switched oscillator (M(2)<1.2) a good beam quality of M(2) approximately 1.7 was achieved. The amplifier is diode pumped by an 8 bar diode stack of 800 W power and a nonimaging optic. This optic homogenizes the pump light and transfers it into a 5 mm diameter core doped rod with a centrally neodymium doped region of 3 mm and a samarium doped YAG cladding. We show that this cladding reduces parasitic effects in the laser rod compared to an undoped YAG cladding. Finally, we compare the compact amplifier with an amplifier, which is mode selectively pumped by a fiber coupled pump diode.

This paper describes design of the new ultra sensitive sensor system for fluorescence detection applications. System comprises two units: optical spectra separation unit and detection unit. Optical unit of the sensor performs spatial spectra separation of signal from the laser excited fluorescence, and resulting spectra is collected in the detection part of the system.

A lesion existing in the endocervical and/or ectocervical conized margin and HPV-DNA existing in a conized specimen are reported to be at risk of persistence or recurrence of early neoplasia of the cervix when treated by conization. The aim of this study was to investigate whether margin clearance and HPV infection influenced the outcome in our series of laser conization. Excisional conization with the KTP/YAG Surgical Laser System or Nd-YAG laser was performed in this study.

Although 1064 nm is outside of the one-photon HPD absorption spectrum, two-photon induced fluorescence from HPD was observed following excitation by the 20 ns output of an amplified, Q-switched Nd-YAG laser at peak power levels of 0.1 to 3 GW/cm2.
