Article Abstract

A method for the suppression of geomagnetic field interference is here-in introduced. It is designed for use in the magnet locating system of the engineering-based microcapsule inside the alimentary tract. This method marks the geomagnetic field interference levels by getting the static value. Then subtracting the static value from the dynamic value. The results of the experiment show that the method can assess the geomagnetic fi eld interference levels around thelocating waistcoat accurately. And the three-dimensional tracking trajectory shows that the method has greatly improved the accuracy of the capsule location inside the alimentary tract.

Enhancing real-time heading estimation for pedestrian navigation via deep learning and smartphone embedded sensors.

Sci Rep

Fujian Key Laboratory of Spatial Information Perception and Intelligent Processing, Yango University, Fuzhou, 350015, China.

The accurate smartphone-based pedestrian navigation significantly depends on the precise heading estimation. However, heading estimation is still a challenging problem in most pedestrian navigation applications because of the bias of low-cost smartphone sensors, thermal drift with long-term operation, and the unexpected changes in the carrying mode of handheld devices. To address these challenges, many existing methods based on pervasive resources encounter severe errors.

This paper presents a bionic extended Kalman filter (EKF) state estimation algorithm for agricultural planters, inspired by the bionic mechanism of migratory birds navigating in complex environments, where migratory birds achieve precise localization behaviors by fusing multi-sensory information (e.g., geomagnetic field, visual landmarks, and somatosensory balance).

We examine energetic electron transport in Earth's outer radiation belt, presenting a mechanism for rapid (nondiffusive) radial transport. This process relies on electron crossings of an asymmetric separatrix in slow-fast Hamiltonian system, occurring in Earth's dayside magnetosphere due to interactions with the interplanetary magnetic field. The resulting asymmetry quickly destroys adiabatic invariant through geometric jumps, driving exponential phase-space mixing and enhancing radial transport of ≳1  MeV electrons during geomagnetically quiet conditions.

Universal Vector Calibration for Orientation-Invariant 3D Sensor Data.

Sensors (Basel)

Modern electronic devices such as smartphones, wearable devices, and robots typically integrate three-dimensional sensors to track the device's movement in the 3D space. However, sensor measurements in three-dimensional vectors are highly sensitive to device orientation since a slight change in the device's tilt or heading can change the vector values. To avoid complications, applications using these sensors often use only the magnitude of the vector, as in geomagnetic-based indoor positioning, or assume fixed device holding postures such as holding a smartphone in portrait mode only.

Cross-scale coupling from magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) to non-MHD scales is important in interpreting observations of explosive events in nature, such as solar flares and geomagnetic storms. Experiments and observations also link it to the emergence of energetic particles and X-rays. However, how this multi-scale physics affects the abrupt onset of reconnection remains unknown.
