Aim: While selective CB2 receptor agonists hold significant promise for mitigating inflammation and atherosclerosis, their poor physicochemical properties have hampered clinical translation. To overcome this, we engineered a sophisticated, nanoparticle-based delivery system designed for precise cannabinoid deposition at atheromatous plaque sites. Our approach utilized PEGylated PLGA nanoparticles (NPs), functionalized with a peptide ligand specifically targeting vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), a well-established biomarker of atherosclerotic lesions.

Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a severe clinical condition often leading to liver dysfunction due to oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified catalase (CAT) in alleviating oxidative damage associated with hepatic IRI. Catalase, an enzyme that decomposes hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen, is modified with PEG to enhance its stability, bioavailability, and to prolong its half-life in vivo.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the pathological accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques, which serve as crucial biomarkers for disease diagnosis and therapeutic evaluation. While fluorescence imaging has emerged as a powerful technique for Aβ detection, current probes face limitations in clinical application due to insufficient photostability and short blood half-life, resulting in compromised signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and imaging resolution. Herein, two bright quinoxalinone-based fluorescent probes (QNO-AD-PEGs) were presented, which incorporate hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chains for enhanced biocompatibility and an Aβ-specific ,-dimethylaminophenyl recognition unit.

Since the remarkable breakthrough of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) have gained substantial attention as the most cutting-edge clinical formulations for mRNA delivery. PEGylated lipid (PEG-lipid) has been regarded as an essential constituent of LNPs that helps to prolong their systemic circulation by preventing particle aggregation in the blood and sequestration by the mononuclear phagocyte system. Herein, we synthesized a series of mRNA-loaded nanoparticles by replacing ALC-0159 (a PEG-lipid used in the Comirnaty formulation) with amphiphilic PEG-polycarbonate diblock copolymers (PC-HNPs).
