Article Abstract

The aim of the present research was to identify principal parameters determining the oxidative stability of microencapsulated fish oil. Microcapsules were prepared by spray-drying using different types of n-octenylsuccinate-derivatized starch, gum Arabic, sugar beet pectin, sodium caseinate, and/or glucose syrup. Two principal components to classify the different microcapsules accounting for up to 79% of the variance were identified. The principal components were determined by physicochemical parameters reflecting the emulsifying ability of the encapsulant and the drying behavior of the parent emulsion. Microcapsules, which were identified by principal component analysis to be significantly different, exhibited a low stability upon storage, showing that the principal components and, thus, the underlying physicochemical parameters analyzed in the present study are correlated with core material stability.

Background: The gut microbiota produces numerous metabolites that can enter the circulation and exert effects outside the gut. Several studies have reported altered gut microbiota composition and circulating metabolites in patients with chronic heart failure (HF) compared to healthy controls. Limited data is available on the interplay between dysbiotic features of the gut microbiota and altered circulating metabolites in HF patients.

Evaluation of the impact of sugarcane trash in situ incorporation on soil health in North Haryana.

Environ Monit Assess

September 2025

Institute of Environmental Studies, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, 136119, India.

India produces an estimated 6.38 million tons of surplus sugarcane trash annually. When burned in fields, this trash emits approximately 12,948 kg CO equivalent greenhouse gases per hectare and causes nutrient losses (41 kg ha nitrogen, 5.

Models for polymer dynamics from dimensionality reduction techniques.

J Chem Phys

September 2025

Department of Physics and Astronomy and Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia V6T 1Z1, Canada.

Polymer dynamics is analyzed through the lens of linear dimensionality reduction methods, in particular principal and time-lagged independent component analysis (tICA). For a polymer undergoing ideal Rouse dynamics, the slow modes identified by these transformations coincide with the conventional Rouse modes. When applied to the Fourier modes of the segment density, we show that tICA generates dynamics equivalent to dynamic self-consistent field theory (D-SCFT) with a wavevector-dependent Onsager coefficient and a free energy functional subject to the random phase approximation.

Background: Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) encompasses diverse clinical phenotypes, primarily characterized by behavioral and/or language dysfunction. A newly characterized variant, semantic behavioral variant FTD (sbvFTD), exhibits predominant right temporal atrophy with features bridging behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD) and semantic variant primary progressive aphasia (svPPA). This study investigates the longitudinal structural MRI correlates of these FTD variants, focusing on cortical and subcortical structural damage to aid differential diagnosis and prognosis.

Unlabelled: The queen snapper ( Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1828) is a deep-sea snapper whose commercial importance continues to increase in the US Caribbean. However, little is known about the biology and ecology of this species. In this study, the presence of a fine-scale population structure and genetic diversity of queen snapper from Puerto Rico was assessed through 16,188 SNPs derived from the Restriction site Associated DNA Sequencing (RAD-Seq) technique.
