Chicken is a main poultry in China. Molecular breeding for disease resistance plays an important role in the control of diseases, especially infectious diseases. Choice of genes for disease resistance is the key technology of molecular breeding. The MHC is of great interest to poultry breeding scientists for its extraordinary polymorphism and close relation with traits of resistance against infectious diseases. The article gives a detailed introduction about the association of MHC gene polymorphisms with traits of resistance against infectious diseases in chickens and looks towards the future of application of MHC in molecular breeding of chicken for disease resistance.

Water deficit stress causes devastating loss of crop yield worldwide. Improving crop drought resistance has become an urgent issue. Here we report that a group of abscisic acid (ABA)/drought stress-induced monocot-specific, intrinsically disordered, and highly proline-rich proteins, REPETITIVE PROLINE-RICH PROTEINS (RePRPs), play pivotal roles in drought resistance in rice seedlings.

Mixed-species forests are proposed to enhance tree resistance and resilience to drought. However, growing evidence shows that tree species richness does not consistently improve tree growth responses to drought. The underlying mechanisms remain uncertain, especially under unprecedented multiyear droughts.

Since its emergence in 2020, a novel bacterial leaf blight caused by Pantoea ananatis has posed a serious threat to rice production in Anhui Province, China. Through verification via Koch's postulates and three years of field monitoring, P. ananatis strain HQ01 was identified as the dominant pathogen, exhibiting high virulence even at low inoculum concentrations (10² CFU/mL).

The unique biodiversity and vast carbon stocks of the Amazon rainforests are essential to the Earth System but are threatened by future water balance changes. Empirical evidence suggests that species and trait diversity may mediate forest drought responses, yet little evidence exists for tropical forest responses. In this simulation study, we identify key axes of trait variation and quantify the extent to which functional trait diversity increases tropical forests' drought resistance.

Seven plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) were isolated from extracts of surface-sterilized Sedum alfredii Hance. Among the seven isolates, the strain SaRB5 identified as Stenotrophomonas maltophilia through 16S rDNA sequence analysis, exhibited highest levels of heavy metal resistance and plant growth-promoting traits. SaRB5 tolerated high concentrations of cadmium (Cd) (1.
