Introduction: Accurate characterization of multi-size fractures in coal is crucial for estimating its transport properties. However, the extraction of narrow microfractures in 3D voxel-type CT images is difficult, which causes the loss of connectivity in the extracted fracture network and reduces the accuracy of the predicted transport properties.
Objectives: Improving the image quality and optimizing the segmentation process to deal with the inaccuracy of fracture extraction from coal CT images.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between preexisting vitamin D deficiency and the development of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) in patients with isolated extremity fractures.
Methods: The TriNetX database was queried to identify patients aged 18 and older who experienced upper or lower extremity fractures. Two cohorts were created based on the presence of vitamin D deficiency.

Background: Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome caused by mesenchymal tumors that secrete fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23). Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) is a novel histopathologic entity that has been identified as a separate cause of TIO. Clinically, PMT is typically diagnosed late due to its rarity.

Biodegradable magnesium alloys suture anchors face rapid anchor eyelet degradation, compromising mechanical strength. In this study, an assembled-structure magnesium alloy suture anchor was proposed to mitigate the fast failure of anchor eyelet. In vitro and in vivo experiments were conducted to evaluate the degradation behavior and biomechanical performance of assembled ZE21C magnesium alloy suture anchors.

Background: Osteodysplastic syndromes comprise a very diverse group of clinically and genetically heterogeneous disorders characterized by defects in bone and connective tissue development, as well as in bone density. Here, we report the case of a 48-year-old female with a complex medical history characterized by bone dysplasia, hyperostosis, and partial tooth agenesis.
Methods: Genetic testing was performed using WES analysis and Sanger sequencing.
