Article Abstract

Aim: To develop a method for determination of adenosine, rutin and quercetin in Carthamus tinctorius L. by high performance capillary electrophoresis(HPCE).

Methods: A fused silica capillary (66.5 cm x 50 microns ID, an effective length of 58 cm) was used. The running buffer composed of 50 mmol.L-1 borax (pH 9.7) containing 18% methanol. The applied voltage was 24 kV and the capillary temperature was 20 degrees C. The detection wavelength was 210 nm. Rifampicin was used as internal standard.

Results: A good linearity between peak area ratio of the common peak to the internal standard and the concentration was found in the range of 10-160 mg.L-1 for adenosine, 100-2,000 mg.L-1 for rutin and 100-1,600 mg.L-1 for quercetin (r > 0.998). The average recoveries were 98.5%-100.5%, 96.9%-99.5% and 99.1%-99.5% for adenosine, rutin and quercetin, respectively. The relative standard deviation was less than 6.5% (n = 5).

Conclusion: The method is simple, rapid and with satisfactory recoveries and good reproducibilities. It can be used to control the quality of Carthamus tinctorius.

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether intraperitoneally administration of 50 mg rutin/kg body weight exerts a protective effect against Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii-induced inflammatory damage by modulating serum purinergic enzymes and molecules. In a study, rats treated with a saline solution and infected with C.

Glucose transporter protein 1-targeted polymetallic coordination nanopolymer remodeled cisplatin-resistant microenvironment for enhanced chemotherapy of lung cancer.

Cisplatin (CDDP), a first-line chemotherapeutic agent, faces significant challenges in the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) due to the rapid emergence of drug resistance. In this study, a glucose transporter protein 1-targeted nanodrug (RCPM) was developed by coordinating rutin with polymetallic ions, including Fe, V, and Pt. RCPM selectively targeted CDDP-resistant A549 (A549R) cells, efficiently accumulating within tumors.

To improve the selenium (Se) uptake in grapes, the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on the Se accumulation in grapevines were studied under a soil Se concentration of 5 mg/kg, and the transcriptome and metabolome sequencing were used to elucidate the regulatory mechanism of AMF on Se accumulation. AMF initially decreased the biomass of grapevines, but later increased the biomass. Moreover, AMF enhanced the activities of Se metabolism enzymes (adenosine triphosphate sulfurylase, adenosine 5'-phosphosulfate reductase, serine acetyltransferase, and cysteine methyltransferase) and the Se concentration in grapevines.

Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) is a cyclic nucleotide-hydrolyzing enzyme that plays essential roles in the regulation of second messenger cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) produced in response to various stimuli. Pharmacological inhibition of PDE5 has been shown to have several therapeutic uses, including treating cardiovascular diseases and erectile dysfunction. In search of PDE5A inhibitors with safer pharmacokinetic properties, computational analyses of the binding propensity of fifty natural compounds comprising flavonoids, polyphenols, and glycosides were conducted.

The increase of coarse particulate matter (PM) due to industrialization and urban sprawl has been identified as a significant contributor to air pollution and a threat to human skin health and premature aging. The objective was to analyze the antioxidant effect of phenolic-enriched extracts (PHE) obtained from black bean (BB) and pinto bean (PB) varieties (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and pure phenolic compounds (rutin, catechin, and gallic acid) in two human dermal fibroblasts cell lines exposed to PM.
