Background: Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders (AIDs), but its causal role in disease susceptibility and progression remains unclear. This study explores potential causal associations between mitochondrial-related genes and AIDs using integrated multi-omics evidence from Mendelian randomization (MR) and colocalization analyses.
Methods: Summary-level datasets from 10 common AIDs (303 590-456 348 participants) and quantitative trait loci (QTL) at the DNA methylation, gene expression, and protein abundance levels (mQTL, eQTL, and pQTL, respectively; 1 980-35 559 participants), as well as mitochondrial DNA copy number (465 809 participants), were analyzed.
Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) remain a major contributor to global morbidity and mortality, with diverse viral and bacterial pathogens varying across age groups. We conducted a multicenter, active surveillance study in Zhejiang Province, China, from November 2023 to November 2024, enrolling 31 490 patients with ARIs, including 6354 pneumonia cases. Specimens were tested for 13 respiratory pathogens, including 10 viruses and 3 bacteria, by polymerase chain reaction.

A retrospective analysis of school outbreaks was conducted to explore the epidemiological characteristics of school outbreaks in Zhejiang Province, China.
Methods: Data on school infectious disease outbreaks reported in Zhejiang Province from 2013 to 2021 were collected.

Background: We aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 and investigate the trajectories of protective immunity and associated risk factors in eastern China between March and November 2023 after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Materials And Methods: We conducted repeated population-based seroepidemiologic studies using a multistage, population-stratified, cluster random sampling method. We measured neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) using a fluorescence immunoassay.

Background And Aims: Colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality of China account for nearly 30% of the global attributable fraction. We aimed to estimate the yield and effectiveness of a 2-sample fecal immunochemical test (FIT)-based screening program in China.
Methods: Eligible individuals were invited for 2-sample FIT between 2007 and 2021, with positive ones (cutoff 40 μg/g before 2013 and 20 μg/g thereafter) referred for colonoscopy.
Evidence regarding associations of general and abdominal obesity with the risk of conventional adenomas (ADs) and serrated polyps (SPs) from Asian population is scarce. Our study aimed to investigate the independent and joint associations of general obesity assessed by body mass index (BMI) and abdominal obesity assessed by waist circumference (WC) or waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) with the risk of ADs and SPs among 25 222 participants recruited by a population-based screening program. Compared to participants with normal BMI, those with a BMI ≥28 kg/m had increased risk of ADs (odds ratio [OR] 1.

Our study aimed to examine and compare the associations of healthy lifestyle with CRC precursors in adenoma (AD)-carcinoma and serrated pathways. A total of 24 480 participants including 6309 ADs, 1343 serrated polyps (SPs), and 16 828 polyp-free controls were included.

Background: Population aging is an inevitable trend and previous studies have showed the relationship between social health related factors and health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) in the elderly. The objective of this study is to investigate the association of social health status with HR-QOL among community-dwelling elderly in Zhejiang.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was based on community-dwelling elderly individuals from July 2018 to September 2018 in Zhejiang, China.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of depressive symptoms and the association between multimorbidity and depressive symptoms among the elderly in eastern China.
Patients And Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted in four cities (Jianggan, Yiwu and Anji in Zhejiang Province and Taixing in Jiangsu Province) in eastern China. We collected the information on 27 chronic conditions through the self-reported medical history and used the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) short form to evaluate depressive symptoms.
