Despite the established clinical efficacy following intravascular imaging (IVI)-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) than angiography-guided PCI, evidence regarding prognostic benefits of IVI-guided PCI in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with high thrombus burden remains limited. Using the nationwide registries of KAMIR-NIH and KAMIR-V, we evaluated the prognostic impact of IVI-guided PCI in AMI patients with high thrombus burden. A total of 4,074 patients with AMI and TIMI thrombus grades 4 or 5 who underwent aspiration thrombectomy were selected, of whom 892 patients (21.

Background: Previous trials have shown that coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) has better clinical outcomes compared with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with left main coronary artery or 3-vessel disease. However, it is unclear whether intravascular imaging (IVI)-guided PCI would reduce the difference in clinical events compared to CABG.

Objectives: The present study sought to compare the clinical outcomes of patients with left main or 3-vessel disease who underwent IVI-guided PCI with those who underwent CABG.

Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) represent a sustainable energy technology but face limitations such as membrane fouling and reverse voltage in series systems. In this study, a nanoporous cellulose acetate (CA) membrane was fabricated on a polypropylene support using gas pressurization, with glycerin as a plasticizer to induce pore formation. This process yielded uniform, interconnected sponge-like pores while preserving mechanical and thermal stability.

Background: Handgrip strength (HGS) is a critical determinant of muscle function and has been strongly associated with various health outcomes, including health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in older adults. Although previous studies have explored the relationship between HGS and HRQoL, there is limited research on multiple muscle strength indicators in older Korean adults. In this study, we aimed to investigate the associations between multiple muscle strength indicators-maximal and relative HGS, dynapenia, and HGS asymmetry-and HRQoL in older Korean adults.

The reaction distribution within composite electrodes of all-solid-state batteries is often nonuniform, causing various problems. In this study, we developed an method at the three-dimensional and nanometer scale of the reaction distribution and the morphological changes during the charging process of a graphite composite electrode. The feature of the method presented is that it clarifies the factors that determine the reaction distribution by quantitatively analyzing the reaction distribution and three-dimensional changes that occur during charging at the same time using nanocomputed tomography (nano-CT) and digital volume correlation (DVC) analysis.

A surface-engineered poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] film demonstrates enhanced electron affinity, which increases charge density and boosts electron-accepting capability for efficient triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). However, its nonconductive nature and low dielectric constant restrict overall performance. To address these limitations, this study introduces HF-etched MXene (MX) nanosheets and in situ synthesized Prussian blue (PB)-decorated MX nanocomposites (PB@MX NCs) as surface additives in electrospun P(VDF-TrFE) nanofibers.

Recognizing the natural progression of the remaining valve disease following the intervention of a single valve is crucial in multiple rheumatic valvular diseases as often encountered in clinical practice. We aimed to investigate whether performing mitral valve (MV) intervention alone for multiple rheumatic MV and aortic valve (AV) disease is safe. Rheumatic AV disease progresses slowly and severity does not differ significantly after MV intervention.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an irreversible disease characterized by a complex pathophysiology. Recent evidence consistently identifies inflammation as one of the contributing factors, along with the pathological aggregation and accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides and hyperphosphorylated tau protein. Inflammation is suggested to have specific causative agents, of which lipopolysaccharide (LPS) may be important in AD.
