Purpose: Some patients with drug-induced liver injury (DILI) would progress into chronicity or lethal. Although adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (AFABP) is essential in liver diseases, its role in DILI is unknown. We aimed to investigate their association and construct predictive models for chronic/lethal DILI using machine learning.

However, the precise mechanisms by which DES disrupts uterine endocrine function and immune homeostasis leading to pregnancy failure remain unclear. Given that wild rodents serve as key reservoirs for zoonotic diseases such as plague, reproductive interventions targeting their pregnancy processes hold significant ecological implications for disease control.

This study investigated the capacity of gallic acid (GA) and ferulic acid (FA) to eliminate protein-bound fishy odor in sea bass sarcoplasmic (SP) and myofibrillar proteins (MP). GC-MS analysis revealed that both phenolic acids significantly reduced fishy compounds, with GA demonstrating superior efficacy.

This study examines the effects of monochromatic light on the self-renewal and differentiation of ISC, thereby elucidating the mechanisms by which monochromatic light influences the growth and development of broilers. The post-hatching day 0 (P0) Cobb 500 broilers were randomly assigned to white light (WL), red light (RL), green light (GL) and blue light (BL) until P35.

Improving skin aging is essential for maintaining the normal physiological function of the skin and the mental health of the human body. Existing studies have proposed many theories of aging, such as the free radical theory, mitochondrial theory of aging, etc.

However, effective microbiota-targeted interventions remain limited. This study evaluated the efficacy of a dietary supplement combining propolis and lysozyme (PL) in mitigating feline oral health issues, based on a cohort of 24 cats divided equally into placebo, treatment, and healthy control groups ( = 8 per group).

The gut, as the vital place of nutrient digestion and absorption, is highly associated with the development of livestock and poultry and the quality of meat, eggs, and milk. Intestinal stem cells, as an important source of intestinal cell proliferation and renewal, exert a vital effect on repairing injured intestinal epithelial cells and keeping homeostasis.

The reproductive toxicity of diethylstilbestrol (DES), a synthetic estrogen widely present in the environment, is widely documented; however, studies on its effects on the immune system remain limited. In this study, adult male golden hamsters were subcutaneously administered varying doses of DES (0, 0.

Although N-acetylcysteine (NAC) remains the only approved treatment, its effectiveness is limited by a narrow therapeutic time window and reduced efficacy in advanced cases. To address these limitations, an innovative therapeutic approach is developed utilizing ceria's antioxidant properties.

Stress may aggravate the development of inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, in which the number of enterochromaffin (EC) cells and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) levels are abnormal, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unresolved. In this study, we discovered that restraint stress triggered the expression of Tph1, which led to 5-HT production. The 5-HT signaling then increased intestinal permeability, downregulated the expression of tight junction proteins, reduced the number of goblet cells and their ability to secrete mucin, promoted the expression of inflammatory cytokines, and ultimately damaged the intestinal mucosal barrier.

The NOD-like receptor family, particularly the protein 3 that contains the pyrin domain (NLRP3), is an intracellular sensing protein complex responsible for detecting patterns associated with pathogens and injuries. NLRP3 plays a crucial role in the innate immune response. Currently, a wide range of research has indicated the crucial importance of NLRP3 in various inflammatory conditions.

In this study, we designed 269 nm selenium nanoparticles with double-cell targeting for ulcerative colitis treatment. Somatostatin (SST) and mannooligosaccharide (MOS) were employed to functionalize an polysaccharide selenium nanoparticle (EUP-SeNP), resulting in the formulation of SST/MOS@EUP-SeNP.

Oxidative stress (OS) refers to the production of a substantial amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to cellular and organ damage. This imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant activity contributes to various diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neurodegenerative conditions. The body's antioxidant system, mediated by various signaling pathways, includes the AMPK-SIRT1-FOXO pathway.

In recent years, studies have found that light pollution worldwide promoted obesity, which was known to be a consequence of circadian rhythm disruption. Nevertheless, the impact of light pollution on kidney disease associated with obesity remains mostly unknown, and potential processes have been minimally investigated.

Purpose: Because chickens have excellent light perception properties, this study focused on investigating whether monochromatic light can cause photodamage in chicken retinal ganglion cells (RGCs).
Methods: Post-hatching day chickens were exposed to four different light-emitting diode light environments for five weeks, respectively, monochromatic blue light (480 nm), green light (560 nm), red light (660 nm), or white light (6000 K). The mechanisms through which monochromatic light influences the structure of the chicken retina were analyzed by detecting the morphological structure of the retina, gene and protein expression levels, and the ultrastructure of the optic nerve.
Background: The early childhood period is a critical development stage, and experiencing stress during this time may increase the risk of gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Neonatal maternal separation (NMS) in rodent models has been shown to cause bowel dysfunctions similar to IBS, and 5-HT is considered to be a key regulator regulating intestinal function, but the precise underlying mechanisms remain unclear.
Results: We established a maternal separation stress mouse model to simulate early-life stress, exploring the expression patterns of 5-HT under chronic stress and its mechanisms affecting gut function.

Background: The intestinal tract, as the main place for nutrient digestion and absorption, is closely related to the health of livestock and poultry. Melatonin secreted by the pineal gland acts as an endocrine transport signaling molecule to regulate intestinal function. However, the effect on intestinal function after pineal removal is unclear.

Three days later, each light treatment group was further divided into intact, sham operation, and pinealectomy groups.
