Background: Splenic artery aneurysm (SAA) rupture is a rare, life-threatening condition characterized by acute intra-abdominal hemorrhage and hemodynamic instability. Ruptured SAAs may exhibit a biphasic and relatively slow clinical progression, commonly referred to as the "double-rupture phenomenon". The reported incidence of the double-rupture phenomenon ranges 12%-21% in patients with ruptured SAAs, potentially due to variations in intra-abdominal pressure.

Background: Near-infrared fluorescence imaging using intravenous indocyanine green (ICG) has a wide range of applications in multiple surgical scenarios. In laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), it facilitates intraoperative identification of the biliary system and reduces the risk of bile duct injury. However, the usual single color fluorescence imaging (SCFI) has limitations in manifesting the fluorescence signal of the target structure when its intensity is relatively low.

Article Synopsis
  • A sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF) is a rare and malignant tumor usually found in soft tissues, and its occurrence in the pancreas is extremely uncommon.
  • A 33-year-old male experienced upper abdominal pain and was diagnosed with a pancreatic mass, which was identified as SEF following a CT scan and subsequent surgery.
  • This case highlights the rarity of pancreatic SEFs, emphasizing that diagnosis relies on imaging and pathology, with only four such cases reported in English literature before this one.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at two types of surgeries for breast cancer: immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) and just mastectomy (removing the breast).
  • Researchers checked a lot of past studies to see how safe and effective each surgery was for patients.
  • Results show that IBR patients had more complications, but both groups had similar chances of surviving and staying cancer-free. So, IBR might need more careful consideration because of the risks involved.

Article Synopsis
  • Function-preserving pancreatectomy like laparoscopic spleen-preserving total pancreatectomy (L-SpTP) can enhance quality of life for patients with benign or low-grade malignant pancreatic tumors, but there is little research on its use due to challenges in the procedure.
  • Two cases are presented: one patient underwent L-SpTP for an intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) with a post-op finding of invasive carcinoma; another had a mucinous cystic tumor but suffered a splenic vein injury during surgery.
  • Both patients recovered well and were discharged after a week, indicating that L-SpTP is potentially safe and effective, though further studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

Background: Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) remains one of the major complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), with discrepant reports of its contributing factors. This study aimed to develop a nomogram to identify potential predictors and predict the probability of DGE after PD.

Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 422 consecutive patients who underwent PD from January 2019 to December 2021 at our institution.

Objectives: To analyze and summarize the effect of SSA treatment on EAS due to p-NETs (EAS-p-NETs).

Methods: Thirteen patients with EAS-p-NETs treated with SSAs at our center or described in the literature were included in this study. Clinical characteristics, laboratory data, imaging studies, histopathologic results, the effect of SSA treatment, and the prognosis of these EAS-p-NET patients were evaluated.

Objective To summarize the clinical features and outcomes of paraduodenal pancreatitis (PP). Methods Five clinically or pathologically diagnosed PP patients in Peking Union Medical College Hospital and 31 other PP cases reported in Chinese literature since 1988 were retrospectively analysed. Results Most PP patients were young or middle-aged males with a history of alcohol abuse.
