Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated the effects of lateral hinge fractures on outcomes following medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) using a structural allograft, focusing on recovery and functional scores of patients.
  • Out of 88 MOWHTO procedures analyzed, 29.5% resulted in lateral hinge fractures, yet these did not lead to delayed union, nonunion, or the need for reoperations.
  • Functional scores were similar for patients with and without lateral hinge fractures, indicating that the use of structural allografts provided satisfactory results regardless of the fracture presence.

Surface modification is a highly effective strategy for addressing issues in lithium-rich layered oxide (LLO) cathodes, including phase transformation, particle cracking, oxygen gas release, and transition-metal ion dissolution. Existing single-/double-layer coating strategies face drawbacks such as poor component contact and complexity. Herein, we present the results of a low-temperature atomic layer deposition (ALD) process for creating a TiO/AlO bilayer on composite cathodes made of AS200 (LiNiCoMnO).

To understand the effects of a high-fat diet (HFD) on lung cancer progression and biomarkers, we here used an inducible mutant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-driven lung cancer transgenic mouse model fed a regular diet (RD) or HFD. The HFD lung cancer (LC-HFD) group exhibited significant tumor formation and deterioration, such as higher EGFR activity and proliferation marker expression, compared with the RD lung cancer (LC-RD) group. Transcriptomic analysis of the lung tissues revealed that the significantly changed genes in the LC-HFD group were highly enriched in immune-related signaling pathways, suggesting that an HFD alters the immune microenvironment to promote tumor growth.
